    Avon and Somerset Police’s Community Alerts system allows registered users to receive alerts regarding community schemes and watches.
    Community Alerts is a service that allows Avon and Somerset Police to keep communities informed about crime and incidents in their area. The alerts aim to:

    help prevent crime and antisocial behaviour
    keep residents informed about what is happening around them
    strengthen community engagement with police
    improve public safety

    Supporting individuals who may be at risk of exploitation, abuse or repeat victimisation, and working closely with partner organisations to safeguard those most in need.

    • Carrying out safeguarding visits and referrals where vulnerabilities are identified.
    • Working closely with partner agencies to support those at risk of exploitation, abuse or harm.
    • Identifying repeat victims and ensuring appropriate support measures are in place.
    • Raising awareness of safeguarding concerns within the community and encouraging reporting.

    • Conducting targeted patrols in areas where illegal off-road bikes and Surron-style electric motorcycles are frequently reported.
    • Responding to community concerns and gathering intelligence to identify riders using vehicles unlawfully or in an anti-social manner.
    • Working with roads policing officers and partner agencies to take enforcement action against offenders where appropriate.
    • Seizing vehicles being used illegally on public roads, footpaths, parks and other prohibited areas when legislation permits.
    • Engaging with local residents, landowners and businesses to identify hotspot locations and prevent repeat incidents.
    • Using community intelligence, CCTV and other available evidence to identify riders involved in anti-social behaviour, dangerous riding or criminal offences.
    • Providing education around the legal requirements for electric motorcycles and off-road bikes, including registration, insurance, licensing and vehicle standards.
    • Encouraging members of the public to continue reporting incidents so that patrols and enforcement activity can be directed to the areas of greatest concern.

    • Conducting targeted patrols in areas where electric scooters are frequently reported as being used illegally on public roads, footpaths and other public spaces.
    • Engaging with riders to educate them on current legislation and the risks associated with riding electric scooters in public places.
    • Taking enforcement action where offences are identified, including the seizure of electric scooters being used unlawfully where legislation permits.
    • Responding to reports from residents regarding anti-social, dangerous or nuisance riding and directing patrols to identified hotspot locations.
    • Working with schools, parents and partner agencies to raise awareness of the legal requirements and safety concerns surrounding electric scooter use.
    • Identifying repeat offenders through patrol activity, CCTV and information provided by the community.
    • Addressing issues of dangerous riding that place pedestrians, cyclists and other road users at risk.
    • Encouraging members of the public to report incidents and provide information to assist with enforcement and problem-solving activity.

    We recognise the concerns that illegal electric scooter use can cause and will continue to undertake enforcement, education and engagement activities to improve safety and reduce anti-social behaviour within our communities.

    Local officers have been out and about proactively patrolling locations such as Summer Lane Ponds and Castle Batch after receiving reports of anti-social behaviour.
    We always encourage our communities to report persistent Anti Social Behaviour in your areas, either by calling us on 101, using our website to report things online, or by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
