About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area. 

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

    • Seizing vehicles being used illegally on public roads, footpaths, parks and other prohibited areas when legislation permits.
    • Engaging with local residents, landowners and businesses to identify hotspot locations and prevent repeat incidents.
    • Using community intelligence, CCTV and other available evidence to identify riders involved in anti-social behaviour, dangerous riding or criminal offences.

    • Engaging with riders to educate them on current legislation and the risks associated with riding electric scooters in public places.
    • Taking enforcement action where offences are identified, including the seizure of electric scooters being used unlawfully where legislation permits.
    • Responding to reports from residents regarding anti-social, dangerous or nuisance riding and directing patrols to identified hotspot locations.
    • Working with schools, parents and partner agencies to raise awareness of the legal requirements and safety concerns surrounding electric scooter use.
    • Identifying repeat offenders through patrol activity, CCTV and information provided by the community.
    • Addressing issues of dangerous riding that place pedestrians, cyclists and other road users at risk.
    • Encouraging members of the public to report incidents and provide information to assist with enforcement and problem-solving activity.

    We recognise the concerns that illegal electric scooter use can cause and will continue to undertake enforcement, education and engagement activities to improve safety and reduce anti-social behaviour within our communities.
