    City South Priorities - August

    City South Priorities

Through analysis of crime, consultation with partners in our Multi agency Problem Solving meeting, the PCC crime survey and feedback from our community.

we have identified the following policing priorities for the next three months.

These priorities do not replace those local priorities raised at community meetings. The priorities are reviewed monthly and reviewed quarterly. The City South areas have such different demographics each area has its own issues and problems therefore in order to capture all the elements raised the priorities are deliberately non-specific to ensure they remain relevant to all.

    Acquisitive Crime

Acquisitive Crime to include burglary, robbery, Vehicle crime and retail crime is on the increase and therefore need to make it a priority for the next three months Carry on identifying serial offenders, whilst focusing on repeat offenders and hot spot areas as early as possible to ensure we maximize opportunities of prosecutions, which ultimately leads to victims getting positive resolutions.

    Antisocial Behaviour

Having consulted with counsellors and key individuals in your communities, I have identified that a number of significant issues are taking place in your areas, that comes under the heading of antisocial Behaviour.
You have told us that antisocial driving and speeding is a concern, specifically car cruising is effecting you feeling safe in your community
Given the broad nature of this heading it gives me and my team the opportunity to focus our efforts on particular areas in each of your communities and is why ASB will be a priority for the wards of City South for the next three months.
    Drugs & Drug Dealing

Drugs continue to be a priority as it is intrinsically linked with many other crimes and taking a strong approach to drugs impacts on other areas.
The City South will carry on targeting drug offenders in the bid to hopefully send out a message that this kind of activity will not be tolerated.
Our neighbourhood teams have been consistent in our approach of taking positive action relating to intelligence received and acting on information that comes from within our communities.
We have continued to execute numerous drug warrants across the area and have recovered significant quantities of drugs from circulation in our communities.
Arrests have been made investigations are ongoing to ensure the appropriate action is taking by working with our partners in The City council by looking at appropriate closure orders and other punitive sanctions
We have targeted vehicles used by those involved in the distribution of drugs to make it difficult to engage in this activity on the City South area.

Our three priorities are there to ensure you feel and are safe why being in our area, we will continue to fight crime and listen to you and understand what is needed with you to make sure that you feel safe and improve your confidence in our ability to deal with your concerns, providing an excellent service, which we deliver with pride compassion and integrity.

    City South Neighbourhood Policing
City South Neighbourhood Policing Update – August 2026

The City South Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to work alongside partners, residents, businesses and community groups to tackle crime, reduce anti-social behaviour (ASB) and improve confidence in policing across Clifton, Meadows, Sneinton, Mapperley and St Ann's. Recent performance data and partnership discussions have reinforced our focus on acquisitive crime, ASB and drug-related offending, while officers continue to engage with communities and deliver visible policing activity across the area.

    Our Priorities

Over the coming months, City South teams will continue to focus on:
•Tackling burglary, robbery, vehicle crime and retail crime.
•Addressing anti-social behaviour, including nuisance vehicles, speeding and behaviour that impacts local communities.
•Disrupting drug activity through proactive patrols, intelligence-led operations and warrant executions.

These priorities are supported through strong partnership working, targeted activity and community engagement to ensure we are addressing the issues that matter most to residents.

    City South Performance
Crime trends continue to vary across the City South area. Recent analysis identified reductions in crime in Clifton, while increases have been recorded across some other neighbourhoods, highlighting the need for continued targeted activity and problem-solving approaches. Retail crime remains a key concern across all neighbourhoods and is the subject of dedicated problem-solving plans in St Ann's, Sneinton, Meadows and Clifton.
Partnership discussions have also highlighted repeat crime locations and hotspot areas requiring additional attention, with Hutchinson Green identified as a location of concern.

St Ann's Team Making a Difference
The St Ann's Neighbourhood Team has had an exceptionally busy summer period, balancing proactive enforcement with community engagement.
A huge thank you goes to everyone who attended the recent community coffee morning at St Ann's with Emmanuel Church. The event provided a fantastic opportunity for officers to meet residents, discuss local concerns, share crime prevention advice and answer questions in an informal and welcoming environment.
The team was also delighted to support Hogarth Academy's 2026 Summer Fair, where PC Howell, PCSO Hoskins and PCSO Todkill met local families, showcased a marked police vehicle and spoke with young people about the role of neighbourhood policing.
While much police work happens behind the scenes, the team has been keen to provide insight into some of the activity carried out over a recent six-day period, including:
•Completion of the final Mini Police session at a local primary school, helping children learn more about the criminal justice system.
•Arrests of two suspected drug dealers following enforcement activity at a residential address.
•The arrest of a wanted offender after officers spotted him attempting to flee.
    •Eight stop searches conducted.
    •Five arrests made.
•Recovery of a suspected stolen bicycle awaiting return to its rightful owner.
•The arrest of an individual wanted across Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire in connection with serious offences.
    Sergeant Georgina Northwood said:
"Despite challenging temperatures and high levels of demand, officers have continued to make proactive stops and arrests. We want to ensure the community that St Ann's Neighbourhood Team are working very hard to tackle issues that most impact and affect them."
Alongside enforcement, officers continue to tackle anti-social behaviour around The Chase, issues affecting businesses on St Ann's Wells Road and drug-related activity around Victoria Park and St Mary's Rest Garden through targeted operations and partnership problem-solving plans.

    Clifton Team Weekly Successes

Clifton officers have also delivered significant results through proactive policing and community engagement.
    Recent outcomes include:
•Prolific offender Steven Walker being charged with theft from a motor vehicle, theft by finding and three counts of fraud by false representation.
•Prolific offender Bailey Creighton being charged with robbery, aggravated vehicle taking, attempted theft of a motor vehicle, driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance, failing to stop and possession of cannabis. He was remanded into custody to await trial.
•Three stolen motorbikes recovered and reunited with their owners.
•A Closure Order secured for a persistent ASB and drugs address on Lainthwaite Close following months of partnership work with Nottingham City Council ASB Enforcement Team.
•A successful prosecution resulting in a substantial fine for a dog owner whose dog was dangerously out of control in a public place on Green Lane.
•Continued action against anti-social behaviour through the implementation of a 48-hour dispersal order in problem locations.
Officers have also been investigating reports of arson around Fox Covert Lane and continue to appeal for information from anyone who may be able to assist with ongoing enquiries.

    Strong Community Engagement Across Clifton

Community engagement remains at the heart of neighbourhood policing, and Clifton officers have been actively involved in a wide range of local events, including:

    •Good Companions community meetings.
•Muddy Boots and Wild Wellies sessions.
•Step Out Stay Out football activities.
    •Clifton Youth Café.
•Beat surgeries at Park Gate Community Centre, Hope Centre, Clifton Village and Lark Hill Residential Home.
•School summer fairs across the area.
•Community Kicks football tournament, a city-wide initiative building positive relationships between police and young people.
•Youth café sessions at Holy Trinity Church.
    •
The team has also assisted colleagues across Nottingham, supporting emergency incidents, helping Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service at a large field fire near Fox Covert Lane and supporting operations in the Meadows, where Section 61 powers were used to remove unauthorised encampments from the Embankment.

Working Together to Keep Communities Safe
The strength of neighbourhood policing lies in collaboration. Through the City South Multi-Agency Problem Solving Meeting, Nottinghamshire Police continues to work closely with Nottingham City Council, housing providers, community organisations and residents to develop long-term solutions to recurring problems.

Whether it is tackling retail crime, reducing anti-social behaviour, disrupting drug activity or engaging with communities through events and surgeries, officers across City South remain committed to making neighbourhoods safer places to live, work and visit.
We encourage residents to continue following their local Neighbourhood Policing Team social media channels, attend community events and report concerns so we can continue working together to address the issues that matter most.
