We understand that with ASB especially residents have highlighted around the area ILLEGAL E-SCOOTERS , E-BIKES AND THEFT OF MOTOR BIKES.

    Wedi'i roi 06 Ionawr 2026

    Camau a gymerwyd:

Whitleigh Police Team will seize and remove e-scooters/bikes off our pavements and roads when they can, as it is not possible to get insurance for privately owned e-scooters/bikes.

This means it’s illegal to use them on the road or in public spaces, such as parks, street pavements, and shopping areas. We are limited on dealing with some of the bike riders when it comes to a chase due to hazard and public safety.

If you use a privately-owned e-scooter/bike in public, you risk the vehicle being seized under S.165 of the Road Traffic Act 1988, for not having any insurance.

The Whitleigh Team have also recovered several stolen motor bikes and e-bikes, over the last few months. With your help in reporting these incidents we can continue to remover these bikes from Whitleigh, thereby reducing crime and enhancing safety for everyone.

Whitleigh residents, business owners, have told us they are worried about DRUG DEALING.

    Wedi'i roi 06 Ionawr 2026

    Camau a gymerwyd:

Whitleigh Police Team take a proactive approach to disrupt county lines and drug dealing, by using community intelligence. We carry out targeted enforcement - focusing on known hotspots, individuals and addresses linked to criminal activity.
    This includes –:
    • Stop and search powers where there is reasonable suspicion.
    • Knocking door to door talking to residents sometimes with partner agencies
    • Warrants to search properties
    • Focused patrols
We also want to reduce reoffending and support recovery, where appropriate we use:-
    • Restorative Justice
    • Out of Court disposals
    • Support for those affected by drug use

Together, these actions help break the cycle of crime and vulnerabilities.

  • Blaenoriaeth:

We also understand that many residents are worried about the recent RISE IN RETAIL THEFTS. This issue affects our local businesses, staff, and shoppers.

    Wedi'i roi 06 Ionawr 2026

    Camau a gymerwyd:

We are taking firm action to reduce shoplifting and anti-social behaviour especially around Whitleigh Green. Not only does shoplifting cause financial loss to local businesses but also creates stress for staff and customers, impacting the sense of safety in our community.

To tackle this, our officers are:
Using Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBO’s) to deal with persistent offenders. These are court orders that can ban individuals from certain areas or behaviours, helping to prevent further offences.

The Whitleigh Police team work closely with local businesses and are visible each shift in the area. The team aim to share information when appropriate and coordinate responses focusing on key locations where offences are most common. This targeted, partnership-led approach is already making a difference – helping to deter crime and improve safety for everyone.

  • Blaenoriaeth:

Although ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR (ASB) is decreasing, it remains a key concern for residents and businesses in the Whitleigh area.

    Wedi'i roi 06 Ionawr 2026

    Camau a gymerwyd:

We known that anti-social behaviour can have a serious impact on community life, causing fear, anxiety, and isolation, affecting mental health, and disrupting daily routines. Whitleigh Policing Team work closely with partner agencies including Plymouth City Council to address ASB in all its forms.

We have issued ASB Level 1 Warnings, Level 2 Warnings with partners agencies involved, and then Community Protection Warnings and Community Protection Notices issued through the court, to individuals where there are conditions put in place for that person not to be in company with others and banning them from certain areas.

By working together with our partners and the community, Whitleigh Police team aim to reduce ASB further to create a safer, stronger neighbourhood for everyone.

PARKING OUTSIDE OF SCHOOLS, pick up and drop off times can cause increased safety and risk to both children and parents.

    Wedi'i roi 06 Ionawr 2026

    Camau a gymerwyd:

The Whitleigh Policing Team are aware of the inconsiderate parking outside schools especially on yellow zigzag markings, "School Keep Clear" . The team over the last few months have asked politely for cars to move on sometime with angry responses from drivers. The yellow markings outside school are there for children’s safety and to prevent accidents by ensuring clear visibility for children crossing the road and for drivers.

Plymouth City Council can issue motorist with penalty charge notices (PNC) for waiting, stopping, or parking on yellow zigzags, police can assist with vehicles causing and obstruction. Please be considerate when dropping and picking up children including parking and let us keep Whitleigh safe.
