    Reduce Antisocial Behaviour

Antisocial behaviour (ASB) is defined as 'behaviour by a person which causes, or is likely to cause, harassment, alarm or distress to persons not of the same household as the person'. There are three main categories of ASB which depends on how many people are affected; personal ASB, nuisance ASB, and environmental ASB. This can include littering, noise, inconsiderate behaviour, nuisance calls, antisocial driving, abandoned vehicles, begging, and street drinking.

To reduce and target ASB in the community the East Devon Neighbourhood team work with partner agencies such as East Devon Council, local schools, local shops, pubs, and Highways.

Throughout July, officers continued working with Axminster Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) to address concerns around anti-social driving in the area. As part of a dedicated operation, a number of vehicles were stopped and drivers were spoken to about their manner of driving with the aim of educating drivers and preventing further anti-social behaviour on our roads alongside warnings issued and seizures of vehicles.
Our new speed awareness sign has be used in prime speeding locations recording the speed of passing vehicles which has been well received in our communities and has been further requested to be deployed in other villages.
Your team have also been supporting the local youth group with RESTORE on a Friday evening where local children attend for games, sport activities, food and socialisation. We will continue to support the youth team with ongoing activities going forward which gives us the opportunity to engage with the youths breaking down barriers.

Rural Crime & Engagement Rural crime is an issue for large areas of the country, but it tends to go unreported. It can impact on insurance premiums, food prices, the environment, and can damage local communities. The Seaton Neighbourhood Team are conducting a visible presence in the rural community to offer reassurance and crime prevention. The aim is to improve connectivity with the rural communities and provide education to users of our beautiful countryside. This includes attending rural events to gain knowledge about the issues effecting the rural communities and to offer the crime prevention advice. Included within this we will be targeting Road Safety throughout our rural areas in attempt to reduce collisions.

    Camau a gymerwyd:

Throughout July we have continued to carry out foot patrols and engage with our rural communities. These patrols are a great opportunity for us to get out and about, speak with residents, and provide reassurance in areas where people may not regularly see police officers.
We have monitored cross border activities through working with our counter parts in Dorset in relation to ASB and suspect identification.
Patrolled known drug line border connections through monitoring known vehicles coming and going from our local area.
On going we will continue to arrange further patrols and engagement events over the coming months. If you see us while we are out and about, please come over and say hello. If there are any areas of concern that you would like us to visit, please get in touch with us through Community Messaging.
