Our recent Neighbourhood Policing Priorities Survey highlighted burglary as one of the primary concern for Missenden area residents. In response, burglary prevention and investigation will continue to remain a key priority for the team

The Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to play an important role in preventing and responding to burglary across the area. Through proactive patrols and targeted activity, officers focus on locations where recent offences have occurred or where emerging crime patterns have been identified. By increasing visibility in these areas, officers aim to deter offenders, gather intelligence, and provide reassurance to local communities.

Following a burglary, neighbourhood officers are responsible for carrying out cocooning visits. These visits involve engaging with neighbouring households to raise awareness of recent incidents, provide tailored crime prevention advice, and reduce the risk of further offences occurring nearby. The team is also supported by dedicated police volunteers who conduct home visits and offer practical security guidance to residents.

While burglary investigations are generally led by specialist detective teams, neighbourhood officers continue to play a valuable supporting role throughout the investigative process. This includes attending incidents, conducting initial enquiries, identifying evidential opportunities, and providing support and reassurance to victims. Patrols are directed towards areas assessed as being at greater risk, helping to prevent further offences, disrupt criminal activity, and maintain public confidence.

Neighbourhood officers also work alongside neighbouring police forces through cross-border operations such as Operation Pandilla. These joint initiatives focus on disrupting travelling criminals and individuals who enter the area with the intention of committing offences. Through intelligence sharing, targeted patrols, and coordinated enforcement activity, these operations help prevent crime, identify offenders, and improve community safety. Additional partnership operations are currently being developed as part of the forthcoming winter burglary prevention campaign.

The Buckinghamshire policing area has now commenced with Operation Grotto. The annual winter burglary campaign to combat the seasonal rise in burglary. Officers will be assigned to dedicated high visibility patrols every night across Bucks, particularly the South Buckinghamshire area where communities are seen to be most impacted by burglary offenders. The first of these patrols have resulted in officers disrupting a burglary in progress, as well as officers dealing with a number of late night driving offences. We will continue to update on the results of operation grotto as well as communicate with local residents about the importance of burglary prevention measures.

Alongside enforcement activity, the team continues to engage with residents through regular Have Your Say events held across the community. These sessions are typically led by Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs), often supported by Police Constables, and take place at locations such as town centres, shopping areas, and other community venues.

These events provide an opportunity for residents to speak directly with their local policing team, receive crime prevention advice, raise concerns, and discuss issues affecting their neighbourhoods. They also enable officers to better understand local priorities and ensure that policing activity remains aligned with the needs and concerns of the community.

Details of upcoming Have Your Say events can be found in the events section of this page.

  • Blaenoriaeth:

Our recent Neighbourhood Priorities Survey revealed that the majority of Missenden residents consider Anti-Social behaviour to be one of the key issues they want their local neighbourhood team to address. In response, we continue to carry out targeted activity across the area to reduce and prevent Anti-Social behaviour. This remains a standing priority for the team.

    Wedi'i roi 01 Medi 2026

The Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to dedicate significant time and resources to supporting residents and addressing a wide range of Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) concerns across the Missendens. These reports can include noise nuisance, neighbour disputes, cannabis-related issues, littering, criminal damage, harassment, and hate-related incidents. Regardless of the nature of the report, officers seek to understand the circumstances, engage with those involved, and work towards fair, proportionate, and long-term solutions.

Many of the incidents reported to police are classified as personal ASB, often involving disputes between neighbours or individuals where relationships have broken down over time. These matters can have a considerable impact on those involved and frequently require a coordinated response. The Neighbourhood Team works closely with residents, local authorities, housing providers, and partner agencies to assess risk, provide advice, and identify sustainable resolutions.

Where anti-social behaviour escalates into criminal offending, neighbourhood officers will conduct a full investigation and consider appropriate enforcement action. While some incidents can be resolved through early intervention, advice, or low-level enforcement, others require more extensive evidence gathering, victim support, and partnership working in order to achieve a positive outcome.

Officers continue to carry out regular patrols in the Wrights Lane and Hazel Road areas of Prestwood following concerns raised by local residents. A number of these reports relate to ongoing neighbour disputes and tensions between households. The team remains committed to engaging with all parties involved, reducing conflict where possible, and preventing matters from escalating further.

The team is also currently investigating reports of targeted Anti-Social behaviour affecting a resident and their property within the Missendens area. Behaviour of this nature can have a significant and lasting impact on victims, and officers are pursuing all appropriate lines of enquiry while ensuring suitable support and safeguarding measures are provided throughout the investigation.

Where individuals responsible for persistent anti-social behaviour are identified, officers will consider a range of interventions and enforcement options. These may include warning letters, Acceptable Behaviour Agreements, Community Protection Warnings, or more robust legal powers where necessary. The aim is to prevent further offending, support victims, and improve the quality of life for those affected.

Through regular patrols, community engagement, and close partnership working, the Neighbourhood Team remains committed to tackling anti-social behaviour and addressing the concerns that matter most to residents across the Missendens.

During October and November, residents may also have noticed an increased police presence in the lead-up to Halloween and Bonfire Night. While these events are enjoyed responsibly by the vast majority of people, they can sometimes lead to an increase in anti-social behaviour and nuisance-related incidents. In response, targeted patrols have been conducted across the area to prevent disorder, provide reassurance, and engage with young people. As part of this activity, officers have carried out stop searches where lawful grounds existed and have seized fireworks in circumstances where their possession or use was considered inappropriate or likely to contribute to antisocial behaviour. These proactive measures help to reduce disorder, safeguard communities, and ensure that seasonal events can be enjoyed safely and responsibly by all.

  • Blaenoriaeth:

Our recent Neighbourhood Policing Priorities Survey showed that speeding is the highest concern for residents in the Missendens jointly with ASB. In the Missenden area, this continues to be a priority for the neighbourhood team, and we remain focused on addressing speeding through regular patrols, engagement and targeted enforcement.

    Wedi'i roi 01 Medi 2026

    Camau a gymerwyd:

Road safety and speeding remain among the most common concerns raised by residents across the local area. In response, the Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to undertake regular speed enforcement and monitoring using roadside speed detection equipment. These operations are designed to deter speeding, improve safety for all road users, and identify motorists who fail to comply with speed limits. The visible presence of officers also helps encourage greater compliance and reassure local communities.

Although speed enforcement activity typically reduces during the winter months, dedicated operations and patrols increase during the spring and summer. A number of targeted enforcement days have been carried out this year, and Roads Policing officers have also spent considerable time in both Amersham and Chesham addressing road safety concerns and enforcing traffic legislation.

Improving road safety requires more than enforcement alone. Long-term reductions in speeding depend on a combination of education, engagement, and community involvement. We continue to work with partner agencies, local organisations, and residents to promote responsible driving behaviour and encourage safer use of the road network.

Community Speed Watch volunteers continue to play an important role in supporting this work. Particular recognition should be given to the Latimer Community Speed Watch group, which has completed more than 58 deployment sessions since the start of the year. Their commitment demonstrates the positive impact that local volunteers can have in raising awareness of speeding concerns and encouraging greater compliance with speed limits.

We would like to thank all Community Speed Watch volunteers for their continued dedication and support. Further information about the scheme can be found at www.communityspeedwatch.org.

Residents frequently report that speeding is linked to wider anti-social driving issues, including excessive vehicle noise, aggressive driving, dangerous manoeuvres, and nuisance vehicle use, particularly during evening and night-time hours. Such behaviour can have a significant impact on those living nearby and can undermine the sense of safety within local communities.

Where sufficient evidence is available, including dashcam footage, CCTV, video recordings, or vehicle registration details, officers may consider the use of Section 59 warnings and other enforcement powers. We encourage residents to report incidents directly to the police so that concerns can be properly assessed, recorded, and investigated, rather than relying solely on social media posts.

Neighbourhood officers regularly deal with a range of road traffic offences across the area, including uninsured driving, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, and reports of careless, inconsiderate, or dangerous driving. Appropriate enforcement action is taken wherever offences are identified and the evidence supports police action.

Addressing anti-social vehicle use remains an important part of neighbourhood policing. In recent months, officers have proactively stopped a number of vehicles after concerns were raised regarding driving standards and vehicle use. Several vehicles have subsequently been seized after enquiries established that drivers did not hold the appropriate driving licence or insurance. These proactive measures help reduce offending, improve road safety, and contribute towards making our communities safer places to live, work, and visit.
