Tackling Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) – Pinkwell Ward

Reduce Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) across Pinkwell Ward through targeted patrols, community engagement, early intervention, partnership working, and proactive action against offenders, ensuring women and girls feel safe living, working, studying, and travelling within the ward.
To support this priority, the Neighbourhood Policing Team will:
    • Conduct High-Visibility Patrols in identified hotspot locations across Pinkwell, including transport hubs, parks, open spaces, and areas where women and girls have reported feeling unsafe.
    • Utilise Hotspot Policing Tactics by deploying officers to locations and times where incidents of harassment, violence, and anti-social behaviour are known to occur, providing both reassurance and early intervention.
    • Target Known Offenders through intelligence-led activity, ensuring individuals linked to violence, harassment, stalking, domestic abuse, and other VAWG-related offences are identified, disrupted, and brought to justice.
    • Support Local Schools and Educational Establishments through engagement, awareness sessions, and safeguarding initiatives aimed at promoting personal safety, healthy relationships, and confidence in reporting concerns.
    • Work Closely with Local Businesses across the ward to promote safety initiatives such as "Ask for Angela", ensuring staff are equipped to recognise and support individuals who may feel vulnerable or at risk.
    • Promote Reporting and Community Confidence by encouraging victims and witnesses to report incidents and concerns, helping the police and partners better understand local issues and direct resources effectively.
    • Strengthen Partnership Working with the local authority, community groups, support services, housing providers, and safeguarding agencies to identify risks and provide support to those affected by VAWG-related offences.
    • Improve Community Reassurance through regular engagement events, ward panel discussions, and communication via Met Engage and other community channels.

Reduce incidents of theft from motor vehicles and proactively target individuals found going equipped to steal through high-visibility patrols, intelligence-led policing, crime prevention initiatives, and partnership working to improve community safety and confidence.
    To achieve this, we will:
    • Conduct targeted foot and vehicle patrols in identified hotspot locations, particularly during peak offending periods.
    • Utilise crime data, local intelligence, CCTV opportunities, and ANPR to identify and disrupt prolific offenders.
    • Use stop and search powers where lawful grounds exist to target individuals suspected of committing acquisitive crime.
    • Deliver crime prevention messaging to residents, promoting vehicle security and encouraging the removal of valuables from vehicles.
    • Work alongside council enforcement teams, housing providers, businesses, and security partners to identify vulnerabilities and improve environmental security.
    • Encourage residents to report suspicious activity and engage with officers through community meetings, online platforms, and ward panel meetings.
    • Target known and repeat offenders through proactive operations, warrants, bail compliance checks, and offender management processes.

The overall aim will be to achieve a tangible reduction in theft from motor vehicle offences across the ward, increase the disruption and detection of offenders found going equipped to steal, and ultimately improve public confidence through visible policing and engagement.

    Tackling Burglary and Robbery Offences.

    Wedi'i roi 22 Gorffennaf 2026

    Camau a gymerwyd:

Reduce burglary and robbery offences across the ward through proactive enforcement, intelligence-led policing, crime prevention initiatives, and targeted patrol activity aimed at identifying, disrupting, and prosecuting offenders while providing reassurance to the community.

Focusing on early intervention, offender management, and preventative measures, the Neighbourhood Policing Team will seek to reduce opportunities for offending and bring those responsible to justice.

To achieve this priority, ward officers will:
    • Review All Offences: Ensure all reported burglary and robbery offences are identified and reviewed by ward officers to establish emerging trends, hotspot locations, and potential links to known offenders.
    • Victim and Scene Visits: Attend offence locations and surrounding areas where appropriate to provide reassurance, gather community intelligence, identify CCTV opportunities, and consider further investigative lines.
    • Targeted Patrols: Conduct increased high-visibility foot and vehicle patrols in locations identified through crime analysis, intelligence, and repeat victimisation data to deter offending and reassure residents.
    • Intelligence-Led Enforcement: Utilise local intelligence, crime reports, and partnership information to identify and target individuals suspected of involvement in burglary and robbery offences.
    • ANPR and Technology: Make effective use of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), CCTV, and other available technology to identify suspect vehicles, monitor offender movements, and support investigations.
    • Offender Management: Work proactively to identify, disrupt, and monitor known and repeat offenders through targeted operations, warrant executions, stop and search activity where lawful grounds exist, and partnership offender management processes.
    • Crime Prevention and Target Hardening: Provide residents and businesses with practical crime prevention advice, encouraging the installation and use of security measures such as CCTV, alarms, doorbell cameras, property marking, and improved physical security.
    • Partnership Working: Collaborate with local authorities, housing providers, businesses, and community groups to address environmental factors that may facilitate offending and improve community resilience.
    • Community Engagement: Encourage residents to report suspicious behaviour promptly and share information through community engagement events, ward panels, and online reporting channels.
