Using a combination of your feedback and our own data, we have set the below as the top three things your local neighbourhood policing teams across East Cambridgeshire will prioritise for the next three months:

    - Knife crime in Littleport
    - Anti-social parking in Ely
    - Anti-social behaviour in Littleport

    Anti-social behaviour in Littleport
Action: We have been tackling anti-social behaviour through visible enforcement and early intervention, responding to 11 reports in the last quarter, carrying out regular high‑visibility patrols, seizing illegal electric scooters, and taking action against individuals causing harm to their communities, including securing the eviction of a man linked to ongoing ASB. This has been supported by proactive engagement with young people through school inputs, community reassurance at venues such as the Connections Café, and funded diversionary activity like the 10‑week ‘Fitness Rush’ programme for youths at risk of ASB.

    Parking in Ely
Action: We have continued to tackle parking issues through targeted enforcement and engagement, issuing around 230 parking tickets in the last quarter, focusing on hotspot areas such as Forehill and Ely High Street, and carrying out patrols around local schools at drop‑off and pick‑up times. This work has been supported by social media messaging to raise awareness of parking rules and by encouraging schools to work with the Safer Schools team to introduce school‑specific parking signs to deter unsafe and illegal parking.

    Knife crime in Littleport
Action: It is important to note that knife crime in Littleport is extremely low, however, there is always prevention work that can be done. We have been addressing knife crime through a combination of enforcement, education and prevention, responding to recent incidents, issuing appropriate outcomes, carrying out regular high‑visibility patrols, and engaging with individuals identified through Op Guardian. This has been supported by extensive early‑intervention work in schools and youth settings, court experience programmes for young people, and partnership activity such as bringing the Knife Angel to Ely to raise awareness and highlight the serious consequences of knife crime.

    Anti-social behaviour in Ely

Tackling anti-social behaviour remains a priority for the neighbourhood team, with 37 incidents reported in Ely since 15 April, nine of which were youth-related. Officers have carried out joint patrols with East Cambridgeshire District Council's Anti-Social Behaviour Officer and Community Safety Co-ordinator in identified hotspot areas, engaging with young people, addressing concerns and discussing activities they would like to see available locally.
The team continues to work closely with partner agencies to address persistent issues, including supporting a vulnerable resident in Ely who has been subjected to repeated harassment. This has involved joint working with East Cambridgeshire District Council, Environmental Health, Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service, housing officers and landlords to safeguard the victim and tackle the behaviour of those responsible.
In addition, three of the most prolific perpetrators of anti-social behaviour in Ely are currently being supported and supervised by the Youth Justice Diversion Team, helping to address the root causes of their behaviour and reduce reoffending.

    Tackling violent crime in Ely

Since 15 April, 30 violent crimes have been reported across East Cambridgeshire, including five within Ely city. All cases have resulted in positive outcomes, with suspects receiving community resolutions, conditional cautions or being charged and put before the courts.
Officers have increased patrols during key periods and in areas where incidents are more likely to occur, providing a visible presence and reassurance to the public. Additional attention has been given to locations identified through reports and intelligence, including an address in Ely where a vulnerable resident has been repeatedly targeted.
The neighbourhood team has also strengthened its partnership with Ely City Council by meeting with CCTV operators to explore how footage can be used more effectively to identify offenders and support investigations. This collaborative approach has already delivered positive results in progressing enquiries into both crime and anti-social behaviour.

    Parking offences in Soham

Concerns about parking remain a key issue for residents in Soham. Over the reporting period, officers and PCSOs have continued to carry out patrols and enforcement activity, focusing on areas where concerns are most frequently raised.
A total of 43 parking offence reports were dealt with, including:
    •29 on High Street
    •8 on Brook Dam Lane
    •5 on Churchgate Street
    •1 on Red Lion Square
The team will continue to patrol problem locations, engage with motorists and take appropriate action where vehicles are parked illegally or dangerously.
