The neighbourhood policing team is actively prioritising shoplifting offences across Henleaze and Westbury-on-Trym, with a focus on protecting local businesses and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for residents and visitors. Retail areas remain a key target for offenders, and we recognise the impact that repeat incidents can have on business owners, staff and the wider community.

We are working closely with local retailers, business groups and partner agencies to identify offenders, gather evidence and build strong cases against those responsible. This includes sharing information, supporting crime prevention measures and encouraging consistent reporting to help us better understand patterns of offending. In response to ongoing concerns, we will be increasing high-visibility patrols in key locations and using intelligence-led policing to target those involved in shoplifting. Where appropriate, we will take enforcement action to disrupt offending and prevent repeat incidents. Shoplifting can contribute to wider issues such as anti-social behaviour and can affect how safe people feel when visiting local shopping areas. Our aim is not only to reduce crime, but also to provide reassurance and support to businesses and the community. We encourage anyone who witnesses or experiences shoplifting to report it to us. Information from the public plays a vital role in helping us respond quickly, identify suspects and take effective action. By working together, we can continue to tackle shoplifting and keep Henleaze and Westbury-on-Trym safe and thriving areas for everyone.

Addressing street drinking and associated public order offences is a priority for your neighbourhood policing team in Henleaze and Westbury-on-Trym, as we recognise the impact this behaviour can have on the local community. Reports of alcohol-related activity in public spaces, including groups gathering to drink, can sometimes lead to offensive or alarming behaviour, causing concern for residents, families and those using the area.

This type of conduct can affect how safe people feel when going about their daily lives, particularly in busy shopping areas, parks and near community hubs. It can also contribute to wider issues such as verbal abuse, littering and occasional disorder if left unchallenged. We are committed to taking a proactive approach, including increased patrols in identified locations and engaging directly with those involved. Where appropriate, we will use available powers to address anti-social behaviour and take enforcement action when necessary. Alongside this, we are working with partner agencies to ensure a balanced response that supports individuals where needed while addressing behaviour that negatively impacts the community. Our aim is to reduce alcohol-related offending, provide reassurance, and ensure Henleaze and Westbury-on-Trym remain safe and welcoming places for everyone. We encourage residents to report concerns, as community information helps us respond effectively and target our activity where it is most needed.

  • Blaenoriaeth:

Dangerous and careless driving has been identified as an ongoing concern across the area, with residents reporting issues such as speeding, poor driving standards and unsafe parking. Particular concerns include vehicles being parked on double yellow lines, zig-zag markings near pedestrian crossings, and in positions that obstruct visibility for other road users.

This type of behaviour creates significant risks to public safety, particularly for pedestrians, cyclists and other vulnerable road users, including children travelling to and from school. Unsafe parking around crossings and junctions can reduce visibility and increase the likelihood of road traffic collisions, while careless or inconsiderate driving can contribute to a heightened sense of danger within the community. Your neighbourhood policing team is committed to improving road safety and reducing the risk of collisions across the area. We will be carrying out targeted patrols in identified hotspot locations, focusing on both moving traffic offences and unsafe parking. Where appropriate, enforcement action will be taken against those found to be driving dangerously or parking illegally. We are also working with partner agencies, including local authority parking enforcement and road safety teams, to address problem areas and promote safer driving behaviour. This includes supporting long-term measures to improve road safety and responding to concerns raised by residents. We encourage members of the public to continue reporting incidents of dangerous or inconsiderate driving, as this information helps us identify patterns, target our activity and take action where it is most needed. By working together, we aim to make our roads safer for everyone and reduce the risk of harm within the community.
