Since the onset of warmer weather, we have seen an increase in reports of anti-social behaviour within the skate park area beneath the M32. These reports include street drinking, drug use and dealing, fly-tipping, and the accumulation of general waste.

The impact of this behaviour has resulted in local residents and visitors feeling unsafe and reluctant to use the space or walk through the area. Today, officers attended the location alongside Bristol Waste to carry out a significant clean-up operation. A substantial amount of rubbish and fly-tipped material was removed, including large items such as sofas and mattresses that had accumulated on site. While further clearance work is still required, Bristol City Council has assured us that arrangements are in place to address the remaining waste. In response to the ongoing anti-social behaviour, we have been working closely with neighbouring Neighbourhood Policing Teams to increase high-visibility patrols in the area. These patrols aim to deter criminal and anti-social behaviour, provide reassurance to the community, and encourage the safe use of this public space.

Since January, the Neighbourhood Policing Team has been working hard to tackle ongoing parking problems along Stapleton Road. We know how much these issues affect local residents, businesses, and road users, and we are committed to making the area safer and more accessible for everyone.

To support this work, we have teamed up with Bristol City Council’s Parking Services to carry out joint enforcement operations. During an operation on 25 February, officers issued 60 parking tickets to vehicles causing obstruction or parked in restricted areas. A second joint operation on 4 March resulted in 36 further tickets being issued. These efforts are part of our continued focus on improving traffic flow, reducing unsafe parking, and responding to community concerns. As we move into spring, we will continue working closely with our partners to maintain a visible presence and take action where needed. Thank you to everyone who has shared information with us—your reports help us target problem areas and shape our approach.

Parking compliance on Stapleton Road has improved significantly, and it is encouraging to see that the installation of the bollards has been effective. This section of the road is no longer experiencing the same level of issues caused by inconsiderate parking on the pavement, which previously affected the flow of traffic, impacted bus services operating on schedule, and created difficulties for pedestrians using the footways safely.

We will continue to monitor the area, as there remain a small number of motorists whose parking causes obstruction and inconvenience to other road users. Appropriate action will be taken where necessary to address ongoing issues and maintain improvements in parking behaviour.

  • Blaenoriaeth:

The Neighbourhood Policing Team remains committed to addressing the ongoing concerns around drug dealing and drug use in our area. This issue affects not only those directly involved but also the wider community, impacting safety, wellbeing, and quality of life. Over the past year, we have taken significant steps to combat this problem. One of the key measures has been increasing patrols in identified hotspot areas. These targeted patrols have helped us disrupt criminal activity, gather intelligence, and provide reassurance to residents. We’ve also worked closely with partner agencies and community organisations to ensure a coordinated approach, because tackling this issue requires more than enforcement—it needs prevention and support. As we move into the Spring, this work will continue. Our officers will maintain a visible presence in problem areas, and we will keep listening to your concerns. Community intelligence is vital, so if you see suspicious activity or have information that could help, please report it to us. Every piece of information, no matter how small, can make a difference. Together, we can make our neighbourhood safer and stronger. Thank you for your ongoing support.

The Neighbourhood Policing Team recently attended a meeting with local councillors, traders, and residents to discuss concerns affecting St Marks Road and the surrounding area.

Local traders highlighted an increase in crime, particularly thefts and burglaries, which have impacted their businesses. Residents in attendance raised concerns regarding ongoing anti-social behaviour within the area.
All parties expressed concern about the number of individuals congregating at the end of St Marks Road, where there have been reports of street drinking, drug use, and drug dealing. There is a shared concern that this activity is having a detrimental effect on both businesses and residents, as it discourages people from visiting the area and negatively impacts the overall appearance and perception of the road.
Residents have also reported similar issues on Chester Street, including open drug use, suspected drug dealing, and anti-social behaviour. These incidents are causing local residents to feel unsafe within their community.
In response to these concerns, the local Neighbourhood Policing Team has increased high-visibility patrols in the area, continues to hold “Talk to Us” engagement events every four weeks at the Sweet Mart, and is working closely with local councillors and partners to identify opportunities to improve the area and address the issues raised.
