Since January, the Neighbourhood Policing Team has been working hard to tackle ongoing parking problems along Stapleton Road. We know how much these issues affect local residents, businesses, and road users, and we are committed to making the area safer and more accessible for everyone.

To support this work, we have teamed up with Bristol City Council’s Parking Services to carry out joint enforcement operations. During an operation on 25 February, officers issued 60 parking tickets to vehicles causing obstruction or parked in restricted areas. A second joint operation on 4 March resulted in 36 further tickets being issued. These efforts are part of our continued focus on improving traffic flow, reducing unsafe parking, and responding to community concerns. As we move into spring, we will continue working closely with our partners to maintain a visible presence and take action where needed. Thank you to everyone who has shared information with us—your reports help us target problem areas and shape our approach.

Stapleton Road Update – Community Policing & Parking Improvements

We would like to share an update on the ongoing work taking place on Stapleton Road to improve safety and accessibility for everyone.
Since our last update, the team has continued regular patrols and worked in partnership with Parking Services to address parking concerns in the area. Joint operations have been carried out on several dates, resulting in the following enforcement activity:

    22 April – 43 tickets issued
    20 May – 71 tickets issued
    15 June – 43 tickets issued

These coordinated efforts are helping to reduce unsafe and inconsiderate parking.
We are also pleased to report a significant improvement following the recent installation of bollards on the upper section of Stapleton Road, opposite the shops. This has helped to prevent vehicles from mounting the pavement and causing obstructions.
    As a result:

Traffic is flowing more smoothly, with fewer bottlenecks
Buses are able to pass through without long delays
Pedestrians can use the pavements more safely and easily

We understand how important this route is for the community, and it’s encouraging to see these positive changes making a real difference.
Looking ahead, our team will continue regular patrols and joint work with Parking Services to maintain these improvements and respond to any ongoing concerns.
Thank you for your continued support.

  • Blaenoriaeth:

The Neighbourhood Policing Team remains committed to addressing the ongoing concerns around drug dealing and drug use in our area. This issue affects not only those directly involved but also the wider community, impacting safety, wellbeing, and quality of life. Over the past year, we have taken significant steps to combat this problem. One of the key measures has been increasing patrols in identified hotspot areas. These targeted patrols have helped us disrupt criminal activity, gather intelligence, and provide reassurance to residents. We’ve also worked closely with partner agencies and community organisations to ensure a coordinated approach, because tackling this issue requires more than enforcement—it needs prevention and support. As we move into the Spring, this work will continue. Our officers will maintain a visible presence in problem areas, and we will keep listening to your concerns. Community intelligence is vital, so if you see suspicious activity or have information that could help, please report it to us. Every piece of information, no matter how small, can make a difference. Together, we can make our neighbourhood safer and stronger. Thank you for your ongoing support.

Since our last update, we have become aware of an increase in street drinking, as well as drug use and dealing, in and around the Stapleton Road area. One location of particular concern is the corner of St Marks Road, where large groups have been gathering. As the weather becomes warmer and the evenings lighter, this activity has become more noticeable.

We understand that this behaviour can be concerning and may cause some individuals to feel uncomfortable or intimidated when using the area. Your safety and confidence in the community are very important to us.
In response, the Neighbourhood Policing Team is increasing patrols in the area to address these issues and provide reassurance to residents and visitors.
If you witness any concerning behaviour, please report it by calling 101 or by submitting a report online. Your information helps us to take appropriate action.

  • Blaenoriaeth:

Last week we attended a traders’ and residents’ meeting where concerns were raised about a noticeable increase in theft and anti-social behaviour in the area. Local traders highlighted the impact of rising crime on both their businesses and the wider community. Particular attention was drawn to groups gathering at the corner of Stapleton Road and St Marks, which is perceived to deter customers from visiting the shopping area.

In response, the neighbourhood team will enhance its visible presence by increasing foot patrols and strengthening engagement with local businesses. We currently host a monthly "Talk to Us" session at Bristol Sweet Mart and are exploring opportunities to expand this to additional suitable locations. The local councillor has also committed to addressing ongoing anti-social behaviour issues reported by residents to housing services. These actions will be supported by continued partnership meetings to monitor progress and ensure sustained improvements in the area.
