Ashfield Neighbourhood Policing Team Policing Priorities: April – June 2026

    Our Local Priorities

For the period April to June 2026, the Ashfield Neighbourhood Policing Team will focus on the following priorities:
    1. Knife crime and violence
    2. Drug dealing and associated Anti‑Social Behaviour (ASB)
    3. Shop theft

    How Our Priorities Are Chosen
The priorities for the Ashfield Neighbourhood Policing Team are reviewed every three months at a multi‑agency partnership meeting. This meeting is attended by:
    • Local authority representatives
    • Problem‑solving specialists
    • Neighbourhood policing teams

The review considers a range of information sources, including:
    • Police crime recording and intelligence systems
    • Data provided by the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Office
    • Public feedback from the “What Matters” survey, submitted via Notts Alert

This approach ensures that the issues most affecting our communities are identified and addressed. The priorities selected do not detract from our responsibility to deal with other local or force‑wide priorities.

Why These Priorities Have Been Chosen

    1. Knife Crime and Violence
Weapon‑enabled violence has a significant impact on victims and the wider community. Unfortunately, this remains an issue within Ashfield, and it is one that we take extremely seriously.

    2. Drug Dealing and Related ASB
We continue to receive reports of anti‑social behaviour across Ashfield. Investigations show that a proportion of this ASB is linked to drug supply. Drug dealing is known to fuel violent crime and retail crime, directly impacting our other priorities.

    3. Shop Theft
Shop theft remains the highest‑volume crime dealt with by Ashfield Neighbourhood Policing Teams. It continues to be a significant issue both locally and nationally, affecting businesses, staff, and the wider community.

    Camau a gymerwyd:

    Knife Crime and Violence
    • Neighbourhood Policing Teams continue to attend schools and community venues to deliver education and prevention inputs.
    • We use a multi‑agency approach, working closely with partners to target offenders, prevent reoffending, and safeguard those at risk.
    • There will be an increase in targeted patrols, with additional resources dedicated to addressing this issue.

    Drug Dealing and Related ASB
    • We continue to actively enforce against those involved in illegal drug supply, with multiple warrants already executed and further activity planned.
    • Working closely with our Council and partnership colleagues, we will use all available powers to disrupt offenders and reduce the ASB associated with drug dealing.

    Shop Theft
    • We are systematically targeting repeat and high‑harm offenders, ensuring they are brought before the courts at the earliest opportunity.
    • Where appropriate, we will seek additional orders, such as Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBOs), to reduce reoffending.
    • We work closely with retailers and partner agencies to support problem‑solving, target hardening, and intelligence sharing.
    • We encourage businesses to report incidents using streamlined reporting mechanisms, including Single Online Home and the submission of CCTV via secure online links. This helps us better identify crime trends, prolific offenders, and hotspot locations.

How You Can Have Your Voice Heard
Your information and feedback are vital in helping us set priorities and take action:
    • Take part in the Notts Alert “What Matters” survey
    • Report incidents via 999 (emergency) or 101 (non‑emergency)
    • Report online through the Nottinghamshire Police website
    • Provide information anonymously via Crimestoppers
