    How priorities are chosen:

The priorities for the Broxtowe NPA is reviewed every 3 months in a Multi-Agency meeting attended by Police, Broxtowe Borough Council, Licensing and Probation.

The meeting looks at the data from crime recording and intelligence systems held by the police, as well as data from the Nottinghamshire Police Crime Commissioners Office and responses to the ‘What Matters’ survey submitted to the police via the Notts Alert system, in order to determine which matters are important to our communities.

The priorities selected do not detract from other priorities either locally or across the force.

Why this priority has been chosen:

This priority has been chosen as one of the local policing priorities for Beeston Town Centre due to calls relating to alcohol related ASB. Crime data has shown an increase in public order offences over the last three months. Partner feedback has raised concerns alcohol related crime such as criminal damage.

How you can have your voice heard:

You can take part in the NottsAlert “What Matters” survey here - Please click here to complete the survey

You can report incidents by calling 999 or 101 as well as via our website. Report | Nottinghamshire Police

You can also provide intelligence anonymously via Crimestoppers

Over the next three months NPT and Partners will be working together, sharing information enabling positive action on those individuals causing the most harm, carrying out patrols in the area and engagement with members of the public.

    June

    Priority
Alcohol and Youth-Related Anti-Social Behaviour - Beeston Town Centre

Burglars jailed, Jack Higgins and Iona Christos have been sentenced to three and four years’ imprisonment for targeting student accommodation in Beeston. CCTV footage captured Higgins making multiple unsuccessful attempts to leave one of the premises after committing an offence.

    Op Wheelspin
A speeding driver along the A52 near Bramcote has been jailed after causing a crash that left a woman requiring surgery. Following court proceedings, Rhys Courtney aged 22, was sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment. This outcome reflects the seriousness of the offence and sends a clear message that dangerous driving will not be tolerated. We remain committed to keeping our roads safe and will continue to take robust action against those who put lives at risk.

    ATM Thefts
Felix and Christian Urcaciu have been convicted after using cash-trapping devices to steal money from ATM machines across the UK, including in the Chilwell and Bramcote areas.
Victims attempting to withdraw cash believed the machines were faulty and, in many cases, contacted their banks for refunds. In reality, the cash had been diverted into a specially constructed metallic wedge device fitted over the dispenser. The offenders would then return later to retrieve the cash.
Both men are due to be sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on 26 June.

    Operation Sceptre
NPT officers have been actively involved in the national knife crime week of action. Activity has included:

    •High-visibility patrols
    •Knife sweeps in open spaces
•Engagement with local schools and shops on knife crime awareness
•Positive enforcement action for knife-related offences

During patrols, we received positive feedback from members of the public regarding our presence and engagement.

    Open Water Swimming Danger Advice
Police have received reports of people entering the River Trent near the Weir Fields Recreation Ground, Beeston Rylands. Neighbourhood officers attended to speak with those involved and provided safety advice. The area will continue to be monitored. As the weather becomes warmer, we want to remind everyone of the very real dangers of swimming in open water.

    Prolific Offender Jailed
A prolific offender, Kelly Freestone, has been arrested by the Neighbourhood Policing Team and sentenced to six months’ imprisonment for continued shop theft offences committed in Beeston. The individual was also found to be in breach of a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO). This result demonstrates our continued commitment to tackling repeat offenders who cause harm to local businesses and the community. Suspect Charged Following Charity Box Thefts
A suspect has been charged and is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Friday 1 May after charity donation boxes were stolen from a mosque on Victory Road and a supermarket in Beeston. Officers were alerted to the incidents in March, and the suspect was subsequently arrested, charged with theft, and released on bail to appear in court.

Partnership Work – Villa Street, Beeston
We are actively working with housing partners to address reports of anti-social behaviour in the Villa Street area. Individuals responsible have been visited and warned that further incidents may result in enforcement action from the appropriate agency. CCTV is being utilised to deter crime and ASB, and reassurance has been provided to residents around reporting concerns to both the police and housing teams. This partnership approach is key to achieving longer-term improvements.

    April

    oSainsbury’s (Stoney Street)
    oHome Bargains (Queen’s Road)

These outcomes represent strong progress in protecting local businesses and reducing retail crime.

    Tackling Vehicle Related ASB
Following reports of nuisance off road bikes and e scooters, NPT officers, including the Off Road Bike Team carried out targeted patrols across Beeston, Chilwell and Stapleford.

•An e scooter was seized from a 19 year old male outside Rylands Community Centre.
•During the operation Officers provided advice on the legal and safe use of e bikes and e scooters.

•Pedals must be fitted and functional
•Privately owned e scooters are not legal on public roads or public spaces

    News
The Neighbourhood Policing Team has had a busy month supporting football operations, managing protest activity, attending community events, and working closely with local schools. Reassurance patrols were carried out following recent “School Wars” concerns, and reassuringly, no violence incidents were reported in connection with this.

    ASB Incidents Reduced
Anti social behaviour incidents are down 24.4% year to date. Thank you to everyone who continues to report issues and work with us to help keep our community safe.

    March

Prolific Offender Arrested for Breaching Criminal Behaviour Order
Police have arrested prolific offender Lee Keeton for breaching his Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO). Keeton was involved in anti-social behaviour in Beeston Town Centre, including abusive conduct towards the public. This type of behaviour will not be tolerated. As a result of this incident, Keeton was sent to prison, and his CBO has been extended with an additional prohibitive term. More details are available on the link.

    Joint Patrols Helping Reduce ASB
Police and partners — including Waste Investigation Support and Enforcement (WISE) wardens and Broxtowe Borough Council — have been conducting joint patrols aimed at deterring anti-social behaviour and crime. This collaborative approach is having a positive impact, with ASB incidents reduced by 26.6% year-to-date.

    News
We would like to recognise some outstanding work by NPT PC Harry Brown, who made an arrest while off duty. Harry was out shopping with his family when he spotted a prolific shoplifter he knew was wanted by police for several theft offences. Despite having no police equipment with him — including no handcuffs — Harry acted decisively and safely detained the suspect. Harry’s commitment and bravery demonstrate his dedication to keeping our communities safe, both on and off duty. We are extremely proud of his actions. For further details, see the link.
