increase in thefts reported at stores located at Warwickshire Shopping park

    Wedi'i roi 20 Mehefin 2025

mixture of plain clothes and high visibility patrols at key locations, AM and PM . This has resulted in several arrests so far. Ongoing action.
Upper stoke area: Our team arrested two prolific shoplifters in this area this week, one who had two accounts of theft and possession of class a drugs while the other had fifteen charges of theft and possession of class b drugs.
We are currently organising a meeting on retail crime for local businesses. Once this meeting is set, we will collaborate to enhance our efforts in reducing and preventing crime. For updates, please follow us on X/Twitter and check WMnow.
Officers have been continuing plain clothes patrols at the Warwickshire Retail park which have proven to be very successful, sadly during an operation this week, one of our Officers?received a bite whilst arresting an offender, thankfully this has not proven to be very serious and the Officer in question is recovering well.?

On the topic off retail arrests a prolific shoplifter from the local area was sentenced to 36 weeks in prison.

Officers also made two more arrests for other offences.
09/05/25: Update from last 2 months, On a patrol of Warwickshire retail park officers were flagged down by multiple store managers and made aware of a pair of shoplifters that had just made good their escapes. Officers arrested the pair successfully, although an officer was assaulted in the process and had to go to hospital. A prolific shoplifter from the local area was sentenced to 36 weeks in prison.

june update: Our officers have been actively conducting plainclothes patrols at the Warwickshire Retail Park to combat the persistent issue of shoplifting. We are committed to maintaining a consistent presence in the area to enhance safety for all. For business owners, the clarity of your CCTV footage will be crucial in identifying these offenders effectively.

Another highly prolific shoplifter was arrested this week, having been sought for multiple instances of retail theft. It seems that the undercover operations conducted in plain clothes within retail parks are proving to be quite effective, as we frequently detain and arrest shoplifters, discouraging criminal activity.

June: several speedwatches have been conducted throughout last couple of months, a recent one on Clifford bridge road: West Midlands Police Community Speedwatch scheme will involve trained volunteers from the community monitoring the speeds of vehicles with approved speed detection devices. Where vehicle speeds are found to be inappropriate, the police will either; stop the motorist and deliver a road side intervention with the support of collaborative partners, or a notice is sent to the drivers by the police with the aim of encouraging them to reduce their speed when driving in the future. The purpose is to reduce harm and the fear of harm, while improving overall road user behaviour on the West Midlands road network.
    Community Speedwatch Scheme is used in circumstances that are necessary, reasonable and proportionate, in order to;
    • Reduce death and injury on the roads.

    • Improve the quality of life for local communities.

    • Reduce traffic noise and pollution in local communities.

    • Increase public awareness of inappropriate speed.

    • Increase engagement opportunities with local communities.

    • Increase public confidence with speeding concerns.

The neighbourhood team has again been working with the council to cut down on dangerous parking outside schools within the area. Our team focused on the Stoke Primary School this week, necessary penalties were handed out to those who chose to endanger others due to inconsiderate parking.
On Tuesday, March 4th, our team carried out an operation near Wyken Croft Primary School, Pearl Hyde Primary school and Clifford Academy on Gainsford Rise, we worked in collaboration with the local council and their traffic wardens. During this initiative, we issued several fines to individuals parked in dangerous and obstructive locations around the school. Those who did not receive fines were provided with guidance on our objectives, which focus on enhancing student safety and improving visibility to prevent accidents during peak school hours.

On the same day, we also conducted a speedwatch operation on Hipswell Highway targeting drivers who were significantly exceeding the speed limit. Offenders received fines, while those marginally over the limit were offered general advice regarding safety and awareness.

Our team focused on the Stoke Primary School this week and Wyken Croft primary school, necessary penalties were handed out to those who chose to endanger others due to inconsiderate parking. Safety tips for parking outside schools

When picking up or dropping off children at schools, you should do the following:

Allow yourself plenty of time as the area is likely to be busy.
Do not park on yellow zigzag lines and avoid parking opposite them.
If you decide to park further away, please be considerate of local residents and avoid blocking driveways or accessways.
