    Begging - Continued priority

    Wedi'i roi 13 Gorffennaf 2026

    Camau a gymerwyd:

This work is ongoing in the local area. We are still receiving reports of begging at locations. If you know where persistent begging is taking place, please let us know. We have issued Community protection warnings to our regular beggars and are working closely with local authority and partners to bring help and support to those in most need.

We are working in this area to reduce and prevent the occurrences of begging. When resourcing allows we will be present at key locations to offer help and support to people located - ensure they are aware of what is available for them and if this is a persistent issue they will be dealt with through the use of community protection warning notices.

In response to growing community concerns, the Edgbaston NHT is making the issue of begging and associated behaviours a priority. Our approach will focus on ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents, business owners, and those experiencing hardship, while upholding respect and dignity for all individuals in our community.
We are particularly focused on addressing begging along key areas, including the Hagley Road corridor, as well as the Bristol Road junction with Belgrave Middleway, where concerns have been raised about public safety and disruption to traffic flow.
While we recognize that many who engage in begging may be in vulnerable situations, our primary responsibility is to maintain public order and safety. We are committed to a balanced approach that addresses both the concerns of local residents and businesses, as well as the underlying social factors contributing to begging.

To this end, the Edgbaston NHT will increase its presence in these areas, engaging in outreach efforts alongside outreach workers to provide assistance to individuals in need.
Our team will target aggressive begging or behaviour that disrupts public order. In these cases, we will take appropriate action, which may include warnings, or arrests, as necessary.
We encourage the public to report any safety concerns related to begging by contacting West Midlands Police on 101.
The safety and quality of life for all members of our community remain our highest priority, and we will continue to evaluate and adjust our approach to ensure that it is both effective and compassionate.

    Burglary - continued priority

    Wedi'i roi 13 Gorffennaf 2026

    Camau a gymerwyd:

Burglary residential will remain a focus for the Edgbaston neighbourhood team. Please remember to lock doors and windows when you are out, and ensure they are closed and locked at night time as well. We appreciate with the hot weather it is tempting to leave windows open - however please try to invest in window latches or locks which prevent them opening further if you wish to leave them slightly open.
Please consider lighting up the outside of your address and installing CCTV (even the very basic type). These deterrence's have been shown to have a good affect on Burglary rates in areas.
If you have been a victim of Burglary, or want some advice around crime prevention in this matter, please get in touch.
The local neighbourhood officers are still completing target hardening work and advising residents around crime prevention. This work is ongoing.

The Edgbaston Neighbourhood Policing Team (NHT) is placing burglary as one of its key priorities in response to concerns raised by local residents and businesses. We understand the significant emotional and financial impact that burglary can have on victims, and we are committed to ensuring the safety and security of homes and businesses in the Edgbaston area.
Our team is actively working to prevent burglaries through increased patrols, targeted operations. We are utilising intelligence-led policing to identify hotspots and patterns of criminal activity, ensuring our resources are focused where they are most needed.
As part of our efforts, we encourage residents to take steps to secure their properties, such as using quality locks, ensuring doors and windows are secure, and considering home security systems. Our officers are available to provide advice and support on crime prevention measures that can help reduce the risk of burglary.
We also ask the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police, as timely information is crucial in preventing and solving crimes. By working together, we can create a safer environment for everyone.
Edgbaston NHT is dedicated to protecting the community, and we will continue to make burglary prevention and investigation a priority. If you have any concerns or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us..

    Vehicle Crime - Continued priority

    Wedi'i roi 13 Gorffennaf 2026

    Camau a gymerwyd:

We have discussed this in our community meetings and with members of the community and have agreed to continue with this as a priority. The numbers are still higher than we would like. Please remember to lock the car securely and remove items of value from display. Consider parking under street lighting where available or in view of home cctv. The local team are still patrolling the area and interacting with key nominals seen.

The Edgbaston Neighbourhood Policing Team (NHT) is making vehicle crime, including the theft of motor vehicles and theft from motor vehicles, a top priority in response to concerns raised by local residents. We understand that these types of crimes can cause considerable disruption and distress to victims, and we are committed to addressing this issue to ensure the safety and security of the community.
To tackle vehicle crime effectively, our team is increasing patrols in areas where these incidents have been most prevalent, employing intelligence-led policing to identify patterns of offending. We are also working closely with other departments within West Midlands Police and community partners to gather intelligence and target offenders involved in vehicle-related crime.
We strongly encourage residents to take steps to protect their vehicles, such as ensuring cars are securely locked, removing valuables from sight, and parking in well-lit or secure areas where possible. Our officers are available to offer crime prevention advice and assist with security measures to help reduce the risk of vehicle-related crime.
We urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or concerns. Quick reporting can often prevent crimes or assist in the swift recovery of stolen vehicles.
The Edgbaston NHT is committed to working with the community to reduce vehicle crime and improve safety for all residents. We will continue to make vehicle crime prevention and investigation a priority. If you have any information or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us..
