Our priority is to address behaviour that causes nuisance or negatively impacts the local community. Anti-social behaviour affects many people and will not be tolerated. The Neighbourhood Policing Team treats all reports of ASB seriously and deploys a dedicated ASB patrol vehicle to respond effectively. We work closely with schools and a range of partner agencies to identify those involved and take appropriate action to safeguard the community and reduce further incidents.

Targeted patrols in hotspot areas to engage with youths, deter ASB and to challenge disorder and criminality.
Identifying repeat victims and perpetrators of anti-social behaviour, and educate young people of the impact of ASB. We will adopt a problem solving approach to locations/victims and perpetrators of ASB to prevent escalation. We will work with housing providers and support services to ensure all appropriate safeguarding and support is in place.

An ASB patrol car has been set up by the local neighbourhood team. This is a dedicated Officer/s who deal with all calls to ASB in York outer on weekends and school holidays.

A bowling night at Hollywood bowl was arranged for children to play against Police. This helped to build the relationship with youths, staff and Police. This was a successful evening full of fun for all!
A multi agency meting has taken place in December to gather information and ideas from the stores effected, the bus service and the Police. Lots of ideas have been taken away and will be implemented by everyone who attended. More meetings to follow

Community drop in events arranged for different areas of York where ASB has been reported. This allows members of the public to discuss concerns with Officers and receive advice on matters related to the particular area. See the events page for future events

March 2026 - A number of youths were identified as causing ASB. These have been dealt with robustly and parents made aware.

April 2026 - Further community events planned for April as advertised.
A number of Youths have been identified as being involved in ASB. These have been issued with ASB notices and spoken to in company with parents.

April 2026 - We have attended an Explore Library training day where staff across all sites came together to learn about ASB and how they can help with issues in libraries. Police spoke about how we deal with ASB and the different processes used both by Police and partner agencies. Staff were made aware of the different ways of reporting ASB and when to make use of 999.

May 2026 - All reports of ASB are monitored on a daily basis by your local neighbourhood team. People involved recently have been engaged with and partner agencies involved to help tackle the issue and educate those involved on the impact it has on peoples lives.

June - We have had some school inputs by PCSOs around the effects of ASB. Community events have been held across York to engage with young people.
An event at New Earswick sports club where the new boxing facilities are to open. Officers attended and engaged with the community. A great day had by all.

June - A Community survey has been sent out via Community messenger to ask the public what their local priorities are. The results show that Community messenger is well received and people want to hear more about the crime and incidents occurring in their area. All areas show that most people believe ASB is the biggest issue in their area. From this information, we can focus our work in this area.

July - There has been an increase in ASB around the area, possibly due to the good weather. Officers are out on foot patrol regularly and educating youths on the impact of their behaviour

  • Blaenoriaeth:

Op Bowl - There has been an increase in reports of anti-social behaviour in the Vanguard and Monks Cross areas. Groups of youths have been causing disruption, resulting in distress to members of the public and to staff within local businesses. Incidents have included running through stores and displaying a general disregard for those around them. This behaviour is unacceptable. Police, in partnership with local agencies, are actively addressing these issues and will continue to take appropriate action against those involved.

Officers have been conducting regular patrols in the area to provide reassurance to members of the public and staff, as well as to engage directly with the youths involved. When incidents are reported, officers attend promptly and deal with any offences identified at the time. Police have also worked closely with security staff to discuss and implement measures aimed at reducing the number of anti-social behaviour incidents.
A recent day of action, during which officers spent time with local youths at a bowling event and discussed the impact of anti-social behaviour on the community, was highly successful. Patrols remain ongoing, and partnership working continues to play a key role in addressing these issues.

To proactively address reports of drugs supply across the York area and take positive enforcement actions

    Wedi'i roi 06 Gorffennaf 2026

    Camau a gymerwyd:

We will continue to conduct targeted patrols to gather intelligence and disrupt individuals involved in the supply of drugs. As part of neighbourhood policing, officers will pursue all available lines of enquiry, including seeking warrants, to bring offenders to justice.
Officers have been carrying out regular foot patrols across the area, engaging with the community and responding to incidents as required. Patrolling on foot enables officers to access off‑road locations, alleyways, and other areas that are not easily reached by vehicle. This approach is highly effective in identifying and disrupting drug‑related activity within the community.
