We are responding to community concerns linked to a range of anti-social behaviour linked to youth groups across a number of locations across the ward.

    Camau a gymerwyd:

We continue to work closely with our partners as part of a coordinated multi-agency approach to addressing ongoing concerns within the area.

Officers have been actively engaging with the community while on patrol, speaking with business owners, residents and community leaders to better understand local issues, address concerns and gather further intelligence. We are also working closely with colleagues from neighbouring policing areas, sharing intelligence and coordinating enforcement activity to ensure a consistent and effective response to issues affecting not only the city centre but surrounding communities as well.

Several proactive operations have been carried out, with officers deployed in both plain clothes roles and high-visibility patrols. Several Community Protection Notices and Community Protection Warnings have also been issued against identified individuals to reduce their continued impact on the area and prevent further anti-social behaviour.

In preparation for the May Half Term Holidays, a period during which we have historically seen an increase in anti-social behaviour and youth-related disorder, a dedicated Disruption Plan was implemented. This included increased foot patrols, high-visibility policing, targeted enforcement activity and proactive engagement with businesses, visitors and young people spending time within the city centre.

As part of our ongoing work, officers are also investigating concerns surrounding a licensed premises which hosted an under-18s event during the May Half Term that resulted in a significant increase in anti-social behaviour and disorder on the border of Liverpool City Centre. We are working closely with Liverpool City Council's Licensing, Public Protection and Children's Safeguarding teams to review the circumstances surrounding the event and identify any further actions that may be available. Follow-up meetings are being coordinated with partners and the premises operators as part of this process to ensure lessons are learned and appropriate measures are considered to prevent similar issues occurring in the future.

We have provided extensive evidence to Liverpool City Council in support of the introduction of a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO). The PSPO has now been approved by the Council and is being actively enforced by police officers and PCSOs across the neighbourhood.

Since its introduction, officers have been robustly policing the PSPO and taking positive action where prohibitions have been breached. Numerous individuals have been formally dealt with for breaches of the order, dispersed from the area and reported to Liverpool City Council as part of joint enforcement arrangements.

Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs) are legal measures introduced under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. They are designed to address persistent anti-social behaviour in specific public spaces, with the primary purpose of ensuring those spaces can be used and enjoyed safely, without harassment or disruption, by the vast majority of people.

We continue to work closely with Liverpool City Council and our wider partner agencies to maximise the opportunities presented by the PSPO, particularly as we move through the summer months, providing additional reassurance and support to residents, visitors and the business community.

Local neighbourhood officers are patrolling the area during peak times when incidents are more likely to occur. They will maintain a visible presence and continue to proactively respond to any issues as they arise, using a combination of engagement, enforcement and preventative activity.

In addition, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, alongside the North West Underwater Search and Marine Unit, have provided visible boat patrols across the waterfront and dock areas. These patrols have offered additional reassurance, with plans in place for continued activity throughout the summer and beyond.

We encourage members of the public to report incidents of crime and anti-social behaviour. Reports can be made by calling 101, or 999 in an emergency. Incidents can also be reported online or in person at the General Enquiry Office at Admiral Street Police Station or St Anne Street Police Station.
