Nuisance Motorbikes have been highlighted by local residents as an issue in the Honicknowle area.

    Wedi'i roi 06 Ionawr 2026

    Camau a gymerwyd:

The Honicknowle Team will seize and remove any nuisance bikes whether these are motorbikes, Electric bikes or e-scooters off our pavements and roads when they can, if it is an e-bike or scooter as it is not possible to get insurance for privately owned e-scooters/bikes. If it is a Motorcycle, then it may be possible to seize it under other Police Powers.

Please understand that we will endeavour to deal with this issue, but we are limited on dealing with some of the bike riders when it comes to a chase due to hazard and public safety.

If you use a privately-owned e-scooter/bike in public, you risk the vehicle being seized under S.165 of the Road Traffic Act 1988, for not having any insurance.

The Honicknowle Team have also recovered several stolen motor bikes and e-bikes, over the last few months. With your help in reporting these incidents we can continue to remover these bikes from Honicknowle, thereby reducing crime and enhancing safety for everyone.

    Update 20/03/26

The local team are continuing alongside the response police team to try to target these nuisance bikes. There has been two vehicles seized that were being used in an anti-social manner. We would encourage members of the public to continue to call us regarding these issues.

    Update 02/05/26

The local policing team continue to monitor the issue and are working alongside response officers. There has been one individual arrested and dealt with for their use of a scooter involved in Anti-Social Behaviour.

    Update 03/07/26

The local team are working alongside plain clothes officers targeting addresses possibly linked to these vehicles and continue to welcome information from local residents through 101 or Crimestoppers.

    Update 07/08/26
The local policing team are continuing to work with other police departments to try and combat this issue ,this has resulted in the seizure of 2 illegal electric bikes this month. We will continue to work to seize more in the coming months.

Rise in shoplifting in local shops

    Wedi'i roi 06 Ionawr 2026

    Camau a gymerwyd:

We are taking firm action to reduce shoplifting and anti-social behaviour especially around Tesco Transit Way shopping area and the surrounding shops. Not only does shoplifting cause financial loss to local businesses but also creates stress for staff and customers, impacting the sense of safety in our community.

To tackle this, our officers are:
Using Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBO’s) to deal with persistent offenders. These are court orders that can ban individuals from certain areas or behaviours, helping to prevent further offences.

The Honicknowle Police team work closely with local businesses and are visible each shift in the area. The team aim to share information when appropriate and coordinate responses focusing on key locations where offences are most common. This targeted, partnership-led approach is already making a difference – helping to deter crime and improve safety for everyone.

    Update: 20/03/26

There has been an increase in police presence in the area in uniform and plain clothes. The CCTV van has been utilised in the area as an overt tool to highlight that the area is being targeted by the local policing team.
A number of businesses in the area are in the process of becoming members of the successful PARC system that predominately runs in the city centre, we hope that will become a valuable asset for them.

    Update 02/05/26

The local policing team are continuing pro-actively patrol the areas. On the week of 27th April we utilised the CCTV van again in the area as an overt asset and plain clothes officers were patrolling the area alongside members of the child centred policing team we would encourage local residents to continue reporting any issues in the area on 101/999.

    03/07/26

The local Policing team are continuing to patrol the areas at various times and are now completing patrols alongside PARC officers.

    07/08/26

The local Policing team are increasing patrols with the PARC officers in the vicinity and in discussions with the landlord of the site regarding target hardening.
