With the sunshine comes an increase in calls to the police and general anti-social behaviour, as well as the need to help with the safety around Summertime events. The Wycombe West neighbourhood team will focus on reducing and preventing anti-social behaviour in the Castlefield and Downley areas

As the warmer weather arrives, we traditionally see an increase in demand on policing services, with more people out enjoying the sunshine, attending community events and making use of local parks and public spaces. This summer has been no different, with Neighbourhood Policing Teams experiencing a significant rise in calls for service.
In recent weeks, Neighbourhood officers have been regularly supporting Response teams to attend emergency 999 incidents, in addition to carrying out their usual proactive work within our communities. Last month, officers also provided support to organisers of the Marlow Regatta, helping to ensure the event was safe and successful for everyone attending. These additional commitments have inevitably placed increased demands on local policing resources.
With the World Cup now underway, Neighbourhood officers will continue to provide additional policing support around England matches to help keep communities safe and respond to any associated disorder.
    Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week
Week commencing 29 June marked Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week, providing an opportunity to focus on the issues that matter most to our residents. At the start of the week, our team had planned a joint operation targeting vehicle-related anti-social behaviour. Unfortunately, priorities quickly changed when officers were required to deal with a violent offender who assaulted several members of the public and carried out a vicious and unprovoked attack on a police officer. Thanks to the swift actions of attending officers, the offender was arrested, charged and remanded into custody by the courts.
Despite this unexpected incident, our partners from the DVLA continued with the planned vehicle enforcement operation. Supported by three enforcement trucks and accompanying support vehicles, the team removed a number of vehicles from the road and issued several fines and vehicle clamps. We are currently awaiting the final enforcement figures and will share these once they become available.
    Retail Crime and Repeat Offenders
The team continues to work closely with retailers to tackle persistent shoplifting and retail crime.
A prolific offender responsible for repeated shoplifting offences at stores on Abercrombie Avenue has recently been made subject to a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO). This order places significant restrictions on the individual's behaviour and provides officers with additional powers should further offending occur.
We hope this intervention will encourage the offender to change their behaviour. However, where individuals continue to target local businesses, we will not hesitate to pursue robust enforcement action.
The work of the Retail Crime Investigation Team continues to have a real impact across the area, successfully identifying repeat offenders, securing charges and bringing persistent shoplifters before the courts. Their efforts are helping to protect local businesses and make our communities safer for everyone.
Thank you to residents, businesses and community partners for your continued support. Together we can continue to tackle anti-social behaviour and ensure our neighbourhoods remain safe places to live, work and visit.

The Wycombe West Neighbourhood Team continues to take proactive action to address drug related activity across the area. Our officers remain visible on patrol, carrying out targeted checks, engaging with young people, and responding to community concerns.

Through targeted operations, high-visibility patrols and partnership working, officers remain committed to addressing the issues that matter most to residents.
Our officers continue to maintain a visible presence within the community, carrying out targeted checks, engaging with young people and responding to concerns raised by local residents. This proactive approach helps deter offending, gather intelligence and identify those involved in the possession and supply of illegal drugs.
    Drug Enforcement Activity
Recently, officers executed a Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act warrant at an address in Booker. During the search, suspected drugs were located and a male was arrested. Further enquiries remain ongoing as part of the investigation.
The team has also dealt with lower-level drug-related offences in the community. A male found using nitrous oxide (NOS) on Mayhew Crescent was dealt with by way of a Community Resolution, providing a proportionate response while addressing the offending behaviour.
    Tackling Anti-Social Behaviour
Drug-related activity is often linked to wider anti-social behaviour, and officers continue to work closely with residents and partner agencies to address these concerns.
Following reports of persistent anti-social behaviour connected to an address on Rynn Close, the Neighbourhood Team gathered evidence and successfully obtained a Partial Closure Order. This order places restrictions on the property and helps protect local residents from ongoing nuisance and criminality.
Officers are continuing to carry out regular checks to ensure that individuals responsible for the reported behaviour are not present and that the conditions of the order are being complied with.
    Visible Policing and Community Engagement
High-visibility patrols remain a key priority for the Wycombe West Neighbourhood Team. These patrols provide reassurance to the public, help prevent offending and enable officers to identify those involved in drug-related activity.
We would like to thank residents for continuing to report concerns and provide information. Community intelligence plays a vital role in helping us target those who seek to bring crime and disorder into our neighbourhoods.
The team remains committed to making Wycombe West a safer place to live, work and visit, and will continue to take robust action against those involved in drugs, anti-social behaviour and related criminality.

The team is working to promote a cultural shift in how speeding is viewed. Much like drink driving, officers want the community to see speeding as a socially unacceptable behaviour. Residents are encouraged to challenge friends and family who drive above the limit—helping to create a collective responsibility for safer roads.

    Community Speedwatch
To make a real difference around speeding requires a real effort from the community. Now that it is summertime we find that there is a higher uptake for people wanting to get involved in schemes like Community Speed watch. There are a number of benefits which includes: meeting new people, raising awareness of speeding, and improving the safety of your community. The Police and Crime Commissioner is providing free equipment to loan to new groups. I will be looking to see if we can get new schemes set up this year. Visit www.communityspeedwatch.org for more information.

The team will continue to monitor local speeding hotspots and assess where future enforcement should be prioritised, including the potential deployment of the Road Safety Van in high risk areas.

    Supporting Enforcement Technology
The area continues to benefit from both fixed speed cameras and mobile safety vans, which act not only as enforcement tools but also as highly visible deterrents to drivers who may otherwise put themselves and others at risk. May’s results across these sites included:
•623 offences recorded by fixed cameras
•948 offences recorded at mobile enforcement sites
These figures highlight the continued need for active speed monitoring across the community.

    A Message to the Community
The team urges all road users to consider the real risks associated with speeding. Even small increases in speed can dramatically increase the severity of collisions. Slowing down can save lives and help keep Wycombe West a safer place for everyone.

    Challenging the Culture Around Speeding
The team is working to promote a cultural shift in how speeding is viewed. Much like drink driving, officers want the community to see speeding as a socially unacceptable behaviour. Residents are encouraged to challenge friends and family who drive above the limit—helping to create a collective responsibility for safer roads.

    Speeding—it's not worth the risk.
