Speeding has again been voted a priority in the May 2026 community survey.
Speeding is a constant issue in all our areas. The villages are relatively small and lots have school which raises additional concerns.

    -High Street Cheddington
    -Station Road Cheddington
    -Main road Edlesborough

    Camau a gymerwyd:

The local Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to work proactively to reduce speeding and improve safety across our communities.
Speeding has been selected by the community following the most recent community survey.
Further speed surveys will be conducted to identify areas of concern, which will then be targeted with dedicated enforcement days. The outcomes of this work will be shared in future updates.
It is important to note that the perception of speeding can sometimes be greater than the reality. Residents who feel strongly about this issue are encouraged to get involved in Community Speedwatch schemes, which play a valuable role in raising awareness and promoting safer driving.
In addition, the local policing team regularly carries out enforcement activity. Over the past few months, action has been taken at the following locations:
•Leighton Road, Northall – Two drivers issued with Traffic Offence Reports for consideration of a Speed Awareness Course.
•Great Gap, Ivinghoe – Two drivers issued with Traffic Offence Reports for consideration of a Speed Awareness Course.
•Ivinghoe High Street – Several drivers spoken to regarding excess speed.
•Cheddington Road, Mentmore – Two drivers reported to court for excess speed.
    •High Street North/South, Stewkley –
Update Several drivers spoken to regarding excess speed. update: further speed surveys to take place over coming months to to establish areas for speed enforcement days. A meeting took place with Ivinghoe Aston with police and parish council and speed watch at the swan pub. A recording of 88mph in a 40 limit was captured. Work is being done to get a speed camera in place.
July update: continuing speed surveys to establish enforcement days
Aug update: further surveys conducted in a broad range of areas to establish target areas for road policing enforcement days. It is vital to survey various areas to get a clear picture of the problem and where to target action days.

The local Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to focus on reducing Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB), which was again identified as a community priority in the most recent community survey.
Progress is being monitored by comparing historical ASB reports with current figures, and updates will continue to be shared with the community disputes, which are recorded as ASB.
To address the concerns about ASB the team has been carrying out high-visibility patrols, including the use of stop and search powers where appropriate; Engagement with the local community to gather intelligence and close working with partner agencies to identify and tackle the underlying issues.
    Pitstone Area Update
The team identified ongoing ASB issues in Pitstone, particularly around the Skate Park and Memorial Hall, where groups of youths were congregating. In response:
Officers conducted high-visibility patrols and engaged directly with young people and local businesses
No ASB incidents were reported while officers were present
Parents and business staff were advised on how to report issues promptly.
July update: 12 recorded instances of ASB in June.
Aug update: 5 recorded instances of ASB in July, a 58% reduction on previous month.
We have planned 7 Have Your Say dates over the next 3 months to allow the public to speak to us easily and discuss concerns
Actions will be reviewed monthly to ensure continued progress and adjusted where necessary
Priorities will be reviewed quarterly, in line with ongoing community survey results

Burglary was again voted a priority in the May 2026 community survey. Burglaries in our areas are sporadic across the villages rather than a specific targeted area and are currently down.

    Wedi'i roi 10 Mehefin 2026

    Camau a gymerwyd:

Your local Neighbourhood Policing Team is actively working to reduce burglary across our rural communities.
We will monitor progress by comparing previous burglary reports with future figures. All data and outcomes will be shared in upcoming updates.
July update: no reported burglary in June.
Aug update: 2 residential burglary and 1 attempted in July, 1 Burglary business. This shows a significant increase on previous month, which can be due to the warm weather and windows being left open for opportunist criminals to take advantage. All victims are supported by the team and home security advice provided.
    Planned actions include:
    High-visibility patrols across affected areas
Engagement with residents through monthly Have Your Say events Providing crime prevention and security advice
With the warmer summer months approaching we will give advice regarding open windows/doors and security when going on holiday.
This priority will be reviewed quarterly in line with survey results, and actions will be reviewed monthly (on the 30th) to ensure improvements are being made or to reassess our approach if required.
