MEXBOROUGH: The feedback we have had for some time indicates that organised crime (particularly those involved in drug supply), vehicle related nuisance and general anti-social behaviour are amongst the key concerns of resident.

At the moment, following a drop off over winter, the most significant issue in terms of volumes of reporting remains the anti-social use of off road motorbikes across the area, and tackling this remains a top priority for the team.

Another issue being regularly raised for the area is vehicle speeding, something that is higlighted as an issue on many streets across Mexborough.

    Wedi'i roi 01 Mehefin 2026

    Camau a gymerwyd:

The Neighbourhood Team continues to work with partners and our off-road bike team to tackle vehicle nuisance in the area.

The ongoing work includes target hardening of some key locations and education of individuals in the area, along with enforcement work; which has included the seizure of several ORBs in recent weeks, including 4 stolen quads/motorbikes from an address where we condcuted a search warrant in May on the back of community intelligence. We need the public to keep reporting the issues to help us continue to build an accurate intelligence picture and provide evidence to take further action and bid for further resources.

The most recent data shows a spike in reports during the good weather in May, so we know there is still work to be done to improve the situation.

We continue to work with our partners and other departments within South Yorkshire Police to tackle organised criminality in the area, using a range of enforcement and engagement tactics. We have had significant results over recent months and years, with a number of key individuals involved currently serving time in prison, and significant quantities of drugs removed from the streets. We continue to relentlessly pursue anyone who steps in to fill the gap left or decides that Mexborough is a good place to set up a cannabis farm, with some significant further results in recent weeks and more action planned in.

The Neighbourhood team is regulararly out conducting speed enforcement checks in key locations across the area, as well as working with the Safety Camera Partnership (camera vans) and our Roads Policing department on the issue.

  • Blaenoriaeth:

CONISBROUGH AND DENABY: The primary concerns being reported to us at this time continue to be ASB linked to nuisance motorbikes, particularly around the centre of town, and youth ASB, which is also particularly focused in the centre of the village.

We also continue to have concerns raised around organised criminality linked to drug supply.

    Wedi'i roi 01 Mehefin 2026

    Camau a gymerwyd:

The Neighbourhood Team has problem solving plans in place to tackle the issue of off-road vehicle related ASB and also youth-related nuisance in the town centre. These are shared plans working with key partners in order to target a number of aspects of these types of offending:

    1) Maximise chances of catching or identifying those involved, and then enforcement action taken against them from criminal prosecutions to enforcement against their housing tenancies,
2)Where children are identfied as being involved, work undertaken with partners and parents to try to support and divert rather than look at purely punitive measures.
3)Encouraging reporting so that we have the information we need to tackle those involved.

Although these remain significant issues, we are continuing to see successes with both problems.

In the last few months we have conducted a number of Operations with the Force Off Road Bike Team, which has resulted in several bikes seized and offenders prosecuted for a variety of related offences in the area. We have also made use of non-criminal sanctions such as Community Protection Warnings and working with colleagues in St Leger Homes on tenancy breaches where relevant. We are also working with partners, such as social care, on providing support to families directly involved.

Unfortunately, though we did see a reduction in nuisiance bike/quad reporting in the last couple of months, the better weather is leading to a ressurgence, so this remains a key focus for the team.

Reports for youths involved in ASB have dropped significantly since this work began and though there is still work to be done, we are now seeing the fruits of out labour. We are still seeing gatherings of kids in the town centre, but reports around actual anti social behaviour have been very low in recent months.

With respect to the issue of drug supply in the area, we continue to work with our Fortify (gang enforcement) colleagues to tackle organised criminality in the area through a range of enforcement and engagement tactics. We have had a number of significant results over recent years in relation to those involved, with a number of key individuals now imprisoned and work ongoing to target the remainder. Our results have led to a shifting picture of organised criminality in the area, leading us to have to continually adapt our approach. We remain reliant on the local community to report information through to us, and we have had several signicant results in the area over recent months on the back of such information, and have has successful warrants and arrests on the back of such information in recent months..

  • Blaenoriaeth:

EDLINGTON AND WARMSWORTH: The primary concerns currently being reported to us continues to be around organised criminality related to drug supply. There are also some reported issues of youth ASB. However, reporting of these issues remains lower than it has historically been on the back of some effective enforcement action.

Shoplifting has been on and off a significant issue in Edlington in the last 2 years. We have had numerous successes with arrests of prolific offenders, but it is an issue that persists in the area.

    Wedi'i roi 01 Mehefin 2026

    Camau a gymerwyd:

The Neighbourhood Team continues to work with our Fortify (gang enforcement) colleagues to tackle organised criminality in the area through a range of enforcement and engagement tactics. As with some of our other areas we’ve had some really significant results in the last year or so, with several key members of the local group currently behind bars or having fled from the area. Work continues to build on these results and target those trying to fill the void, which includes ongoing work with our Partners and the Community to try to make the community more resilient to this kind of offending.

In recent months we have conducted a number of drugs warrants and had a number of arrests for drug related offending by key inviduals involved in drug supply in the area. We have plans in place to go after the others.

Reporting levels for youth ASB are much lower than they have been previously in this area, but we know it remains an issue and the team continues to target those hotspot locations and key individuals involved to build on our successes over recent years.

Shoplifting has been an on/off issue for Edlington for the last 2 years, with numerous individuals arrested, charged and imprisoned over that period. Early 2026 saw a significanr spike, and following further arrests and charges, numbers are currently looking more encouraging, but it is something that we continue to monitor closely as we know the impact it can have on shops/staff and the wider community in Edlington.

  • Blaenoriaeth:

TICKHILL AND WADWORTH, ROSSINGTON AND BAWTRY, FINNINGLEY: The primary concerns currently being raised with us in these areas remain around Anti-Social Behaviour in the form of nuisance vehicles - including off road bikes, quads, speeding vehicles and parking complaints.

The supply of drugs is also an issue the team is focussed on, and although less prevalent than in some areas the South NPT covers, it is an issue that extends into some of these communities too, particularly Rossington.

    Wedi'i roi 01 Mehefin 2026

    Camau a gymerwyd:

The Neighbourhood Team are working with key partners and the Force’s Off Road Bike Team to tackle the insidious impact of off-road vehicle misuse. We run regular operations to target this activity, and have had recent successes, whilst working alongside our Force Off Road Bike Team, with off-road vehicle seizures in these areas, which are usually publicised on our Facebook page.

We rely on reporting from members of the public to help us to identify those involved and to enable us to best focus our resources on the issue.

The team is also completing regular speeding operations, to target this issue, which we know is particularly felt in the outer villages. Similarly, we conduct regular parking patrols, particularly around schools, where we know the issues can be especially acute.

Tackling drug supply is an ongoing priority for us, and we have over recent weeks and months conducted a number of drugs warrants in these areas, with arrests of several individuals involved in the supply of drugs locally.
