About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area. 

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

    ASB and off Road bikes around Woodhouse Estate & Etherley Dene

    Action taken:

    Ongoing work with Durham County Council for installation of further fences/gates. - Off-road bike use
    Bishop NPT will have the use of a drone, officers from both teams have been drone trained, this provides greater opportunities to identify individuals riding off-road bikes

    Officers are liaising with DCC ASB Team to identify the youths involved in Nuisance ASB in the area

    Operation Endurance conducted to try and catch known drivers. Officers will monitor any calls made to police via 101 to track locations, times and dates to build up intelligence and consideration for further operation endurance dates in the future.

    Members of public to send officers and PCSOs any footage or intelligence regarding off road bikes

    Increased patrols will be conducted on both foot and mobile patrols to try and identify the individuals.

    Cockton Hill, Henknowle and South Church PACT priorities:

    Increase in sighting of Off-road bikes, Quads and electric scooters around Cockton Hill Road and Henknowle area.

    ASB youths using catapults around Henknowle and Cockton Hill area.

    Travelling community left debris in the local park.

    Targeted patrols around Cockton Hill and Henknowle Area
    Bishop NPT have the use of a drone, officers from both teams have been drone trained, this provides greater opportunities to identify individuals riding off-road bikes

    Officers are targeted conducting patrols across the area to deter youth ASB. Officers are working with our DCC ASB team to identify and appropriately deal with youths caught engaging in nuisance anti-social behavior

    Local DCC have been contact regarding the removal of waste

    Youths gaining access to abandoned buildings on Newgate Street - Vinovium House and Peacocks

    Action taken:

    Officers have been conducting targeted patrols around hotspot areas, to identify and deter individuals involved in nuisance anti-social behavior.
    Officers have been in contact with the Neighborhood Wardens and Fire officers, taking a multi agency approach, targeted patrols are being conducted by all agencies.

    Youths have been caught in abandoned buildings around Newgate Street, youths were taken home to their appropriate adults - issued strong words of advise and DCC ASB team has been made aware.
    Also, officers have conducted home visits for youths that have attempted to cause criminal damage to derelict buildings along Newgate Street. The youths were spoken to with their appropriate guardians present, all were issued Community Resolutions.

    High visibility patrols remain in place in relation to concerns around youths with catapults and ongoing work to identify youths involved.
    From the last meeting, rubbish left on Cockton Hill Rec has been cleared.
