    Traffic and Road Safety 

    • Speeding and failure to stop at junctions in residential areas.
    • Unsafe use of e-scooters on pavements.
    • Anti-social driving: high-powered vehicles, engine revving, noise pollution.
    • Drug/alcohol-related driving offences.
    • Ongoing nuisance from off-road bikes.
       

    Anti-Social Behaviour  

    • Increase in youth-related ASB in public spaces.
    • Gatherings with suspected cannabis use causing community distress.
    • Criminal damage to parks and public amenities.
    • Theft and public order offences
       

    Drug Activity 

    • Increase in drug dealing in public areas, impacting community safety.
       

    Shop Theft

    • Theft from local businesses and retail premises.
    • Reports of begging near business premises, causing concern for staff and customers.

    Action taken:

    Traffic and Road Safety

    • Dedicated patrols have been conducted in identified hotspot areas under Operation Trimburg, resulting in multiple vehicle seizures and the issuance of Traffic Offence Reports. High-visibility patrols will continue to target offending and improve road safety.
    • Acting on intelligence provided by the community, Neighbourhood Policing Team officers continue to recover vehicles that had been abandoned, were uninsured, linked to criminality, or reported stolen.
    • Officers have continued engagement with venues associated with high-powered sports vehicles, promoting responsible behaviour and addressing concerns raised by residents. This is linked to wedding venues, and all venues have been provided with advice and guidance around ASB vehicle use.
    • Further days of action planned regarding school parking nuisance vehicles.

     

    Anti-Social Behaviour  

    • Officers have regularly worked alongside Kirklees Community and Environmental Support Officers (CESO’s), and youth outreach workers to engage with young people in ASB hotspot areas.
    • Early engagement prior to school holidays with schools around young people and large gatherings to deescalate large gatherings and possible disorder.
    • Regular weekend patrols through OP TARLAKE of parks to engage with young people and prevent any ASB.
    • Ward officers have attended community meetings across the area, providing reassurance, listening to concerns, and updating residents on local policing activity with community alert signups increasing.
    • Repeat anti-social behaviour offenders have been actively targeted through the use of Community Protection Warnings and other appropriate interventions.
    • Officers are working alongside Safer Kirklees to enforce closure orders ensuring that communities feel reassured that action is being taken against those persistently engaging in persistent ASB.
    • Days of action planned with upcoming Business week of action, Hate crime week of action throughout October and November.
    • Dewsbury and Mirfield NPT continue to work with partners to develop a long-term problem-solving approach to tackle large-scale outdoor youth gatherings, often referred to as "field parties", with a focus on prevention, safeguarding, and reducing associated anti-social behaviour.



    Drug Activity

    • Multiple arrests with investigations are awaiting court and CPS review.
    • Targeted operations to disrupt drug use and supply continue across the district, including the development of a dedicated project focused on concerns identified within Dewsbury South and Mirfield.
    • Clear Hold Build is in full operation working across Dewsbury West conducting proactive stop searches/ arrests/ intel development and working alongside partners targeting cuckoo suspects.



    Shop Theft

    • Town Centre Teams are continuing with the good work of dealing with persistent offenders enforcing Community Protection Warnings and Community Protection Notices ensuring positive action is taken.
    • Increased patrols and a visible policing presence in town centres have been maintained to deter criminality, reassure businesses, and improve public confidence.
    • Officers have continued to revisit reported shop theft incidents promptly to secure CCTV evidence and identify suspects at the earliest opportunity. The Town Centre Team have developed strong working relationships with all town centre shops to ensure better positive outcomes are obtained.
    • Community Protection Warnings and Community Protection Notices have been issued to persistent offenders involved in begging and associated anti-social behaviour outside retail premises.
    • Regular community contact points have been utilised to provide crime prevention advice, encourage reporting, and strengthen engagement between local officers and residents.
