About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area. 

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

    Homelessness / Begging - Stourbridge High Street

    Action taken:

    •A joint working approach with joint patrols has been completed with DMBC Homelessness Team and offering a joint approach of support such as housing/benefits support to individuals
    •Proactive arrest completed for breach of Community Protection Notice
    •Community Behaviour Order application completed for two of the prolific offenders of homelessness and begging
    •Joint working with Safer Travel colleagues and also bus station manager and staff to support the transient community
    •Working with the Ryemarket staff and management in relation to ASB in the Car Park.
    •Application submitted for Public Space Protection Order

    Results so far:

    Affected an arrest for breach of previous Begging order to remove persistent offender from the High street
    •Charged a number of repeat shoplifters which were some repeats on Stourbridge High Street
    Joint working with the local Businesses and also Cllrs in order to educate members of the public in giving money to local rough sleepers

    The officers will continue to tackle these ASB issues and reduce crime in Stourbridge and they are committed to making the town a safe and welcoming place for the local community.

    On the 29th June a persistent beggar and rough sleeper on Stourbridge high street was issued a Community Protection Warning Notice (CPW)
    From mid June the police and ambulance service started receiving calls regarding this male which was causing concern to the public and using a high amount of resources to resolve. Along with the CPW he will also receive help with his situation.

    •Pedmore and Stourbridge East / Norton & Wollaston and Stourbridge Town / ring road

    . A number of new Community Speedwatch groups have been set up around Pedmore and Norton and Wollaston has a successful established groups that carry out regular checks.
    . Working with colleagues from the Special Constabulary supporting in speeding around the Ring Road and warning letters sent.
    Dates to be arranged with local community speed watch groups for speed watch sessions to take place in June and JUly with dates and locations to be confirmed
    WMP Road safety team regularly patrol Stourbridge Ring road

    A pro laser Speeding operation was conducted on the 20th June on Stourbridge ring road. An excess of 30 drivers were speeding and will be receiving correspondence in the post. several drivers also received section 59 notices for the exhaust noise.

    •Catch and take Positive actions on anyone taking/dealing drugs to progress the positive recent arrests
    •Work with intelligence and community in key locations
    •High Visibility patrols in key location
    •Plain Clothes Patrols
    •Working with local support agencies in offering support for Drug Misuse

    Results:

    •Joint working with Lye/Amblecote Neighbourhood Team in supporting and also catching those dealing and using.
    •ANPR/Traffic Operation conducted around Stourbridge Ring Road and proactive work around Drug dealing/Misuse
    •Off Road Bike Op conducted across the DY LPA with a number of bikes seized and person/s reported.
    Joint working with the local Businesses and also Cllrs in order to educate members of the public in giving money to local rough sleepers
    Weekend patrols of Stourbridge High from 00:00 until 04:00 dealing with violent crime and drug use

    9th July male arrested for possession of class A drugs and charged to court.
