Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

increase in thefts reported at stores located Stoke and Wyken, this includes Co-op Humber road , Heron foods, Ball hill road

    Issued 19 June 2026

    Action taken:

We are carrying out a mixture of plain clothes and high visibility patrols at key locations, during the morning and afternoons. Arrests of key offenders continue as we work hard to gather evidence and apply for Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBOs).
We are working closely with local stores and offender management teams to identify and manage repeat offenders.
For ongoing updates, following Coventry Police on social media.
if you witness theft or suspicious activity, please report it via 101 or 999

April: Retail crime will remain a priority and work continues with local businesses and Police teams to reduce offending , local teams are working with our Force design out crime officers to assist retailers in making stored harder targets .
will remain as a priority for next two months, problem solving plans generated around specific retail premises

will remain as a priority for month of june, the team has several more operations planned and continue to work with local businesses to provide reassurance, deter offences and appropriately deal with repeat offenders

    Actioned 19 June 2026

  • Priority:

Recent increase in vehicle related offences, including a number of smash and grab offences

    Issued 19 June 2026

    Action taken:

:Targeted patrols in hotspot locations , both high visibility and plain clothes.
: Investigations recently resulted in arrest of three individuals , who have since been charged to court, whilst offending has reduced , patrols and monitoring will continue over the forthcoming month.
: CCTV work and joint collaboration with local businesses / residents to identify offenders and recover property.
: crime prevention days/stalls at key locations, and Police messaging to remind public to secure vehicles

22/04/26: Vehicle crime , particularly theft from motor vehicle , remains a priority for us. Recent arrests have had a positive impact, but our work to tackle vehicle crime continues.
We want to be clear that victims are never to blame, however, we are still seeing incidents where vehicles are left insecure, or valuables are left inside, which can increase opportunities for offending. Simple preventative steps can make a real difference.
We encourage all members of the public to :
-Lock vehicles every time they are left, even for short periods.
    -Remove valuables from view
-Report any suspicious behaviour or activity in their area as soon as possible.
Over the coming month, officers will be holding community engagement events where crime prevention literature /equipment will be available.
These events are an opportunity to speak with officers, and learn more about how we are working to keep our .

recent increase in smash and grab offences in stoke ( upper and lower) during late evening and overnight, teams are working hard to locate offenders and conduct plain clothes and high visibility patrols
