About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

Prolific shoplifters targeting One-Stop stores across our area. They will then attend local pubs to sell their stolen items.

    Issued 08 October 2026

    Action taken:

We are continuing to work alongside our partners and local business across our area. This includes close partnership work with security staff and shop workers, targeted patrols by our local officers and crime reduction advice and support.

DC3 have conducted a plain clothes op at One Stop Buffery Road – no theft offences took place during officers’ presence. Officers were re-directed mid Op to a high risk misper during which a theft occurred which has been crimed and CCTV secured. When officers returned to the Op no further theft offences took place. Further plain clothes op is being planned and DC3 are working with the new retail crime team that is being set up.

    Actioned 08 October 2026

  • Priority:

Off Road Bikes. We receive regular reports regarding off road bikes causing issues on our estates and local parks.

    Issued 08 October 2026

    Action taken:

DC3 conducted an off roads bike opp (Bumble Hole), further such Ops to be conducted. We are continuing with our efforts to cover relevant areas, and a further Op is being planned as we speak, including plain clothes.

    Actioned 08 October 2026

  • Priority:

Significant number of burglaries and car thefts, predominantly within the St Thomas and Netherton areas.

    Issued 08 October 2026

    Action taken:

Ongoing proactive patrols in the area to deter offences and identify suspects, including intelligence-led patrol strategies and partnership working.

Proactive patrols are being conducted to deter offences in these areas, eg: running vehicles through, and visible patrols in burglary hot spot areas (eg the ram raid at the pear tree industrial estate – we will continue with these). I have been keeping an eye out on the overnight crime so that if any specific area/s need targeted patrols then we can conduct those too.

    Actioned 08 October 2026

  • Priority:

DC3 will be visiting all retail premises within Netherton, Quarry Bank and St Thomas to provide advice, enforcement, target hardening and reassurance, as no identified fireworks retailers within these areas that are currently exist.
Engagement and Disruption Visits to Local ASB Nominals with live civil interventions
Crime and ASB Prevention Visits to Local Community Hubs / Businesses.
Consideration of: Zero Tolerance ASB Partnership Operations (support of GTF, Safer Travel, Mounted, Specials, DMBC Street Wardens, DMBC ASB Team)
Licensing Checks, NTE Patrols, and consideration of trading Standards Joint Visits
Liaising with the Fire Service to identify problem areas eg pop up shops selling fireworks.
