Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

There has been an increase in vehicle crime within the Hadley and Leegomery areas since 18 September, particularly on Redlands Road, Caldera Road, Hurleybrook Way, and Chockleys Drive. Incidents have predominantly occurred between 2:00am and 5:00am.

Vehicles targeted have had windows smashed and personal property stolen from within. At this stage, it is unknown whether the offences are being committed by a single individual or multiple offenders. Enquiries remain ongoing, and CCTV opportunities have identified potential lines of enquiry to assist with offender identification.

    Issued 01 October 2026

    Action taken:

Increased high-visibility patrols within the affected areas during peak offending times, particularly between 2:00am and 5:00am.
Targeted patrols of identified hotspot streets, including Redlands Road, Caldera Road, Hurleybrook Way, and Chockleys Drive.
Plain-clothes operations, where appropriate, to identify and disrupt those responsible for offences.
Review and enhancement of CCTV opportunities to identify suspects, track movements, and support investigations.
House-to-house enquiries and engagement with residents to identify witnesses and obtain any available doorbell or private CCTV footage.
Crime prevention advice to encourage vehicle owners to remove valuables from vehicles, ensure vehicles are secured, and report suspicious activity promptly.
Intelligence gathering and partnership working to identify any patterns, links between offences, and potential offenders.
Positive action against offenders where evidence is available, including arrests and prosecution opportunities.

    Actioned 01 October 2026

  • Priority:

There has been an increase in reports of anti-social behaviour within Apley Woods, including the use of drugs, primarily cannabis, within the wooded areas and around the pools. The reports involve both young people and adults, with incidents most commonly occurring during the afternoon and evening periods.

These issues have raised concerns among local residents and park users regarding safety, environmental impact, and the overall enjoyment of this community space.

    Issued 01 October 2026

    Action taken:

Increased police patrols within Apley Woods, particularly during afternoons and evenings when incidents are most commonly reported.
Targeted patrols of identified hotspot locations, including areas around the pools and secluded sections of the woods.
Briefing and tasking of neighbourhood and response officers to ensure patrol activity is focused on areas of concern.
Joint working with partner agencies, including Friends of Apley Woods, the Telford ASB Coordinator, Safer Stronger Communities, and Telford Angling, to identify issues and develop long-term solutions.
Engagement with park users and local residents to encourage reporting of incidents and provide reassurance within the community.

    Actioned 01 September 2026
