About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

Persistent disorder and shoplifting in the Parkway and Northbrook Street areas of Newbury, driven by recent reports of theft and ASB, including problem addresses linked to repeat offending.

    Issued 01 June 2026

    Action taken:

The Newbury Neighbourhood Team has maintained a proactive strategy to combat retail crime through a combination of overt and plain-clothes patrols, close collaboration with local businesses and store security teams, and the effective use of intelligence to identify and target prolific offenders. These ongoing efforts have delivered positive results, with around 10 to 15 arrests made for shop theft offences during the last ten weeks.

    Actioned 01 July 2026

  • Priority:

We are patrolling Victoria Park in response to recent reports from members of the public regarding anti‑social behaviour. Concerns include groups causing harassment, alarm or distress, noise nuisance and potential substance misuse. Increased visibility provides reassurance, helps prevent escalation and enables early intervention, safeguarding and evidence gathering.

    Issued 01 June 2026

    Action taken:

The Neighbourhood Policing Team remains actively engaged in the area through regular patrols aimed at preventing crime and maintaining a visible presence within the community. Officers continue to patrol key locations and periods of increased demand, providing reassurance to members of the public, gathering local information, and identifying emerging concerns so that they can be addressed promptly and effectively.

    Actioned 01 July 2026

  • Priority:

E‑bikes and e‑scooters being ridden anti‑socially around Market Place, Northbrook Street and Parkway in Newbury, raising public safety concerns due to the speed and manner of their use.

    Issued 01 June 2026

    Action taken:

The Neighbourhood Policing Team has increased targeted enforcement activity in response to ongoing concerns about the illegal and unsafe use of e‑scooters. As part of these efforts, officers recently conducted a joint operation with a partner agency, resulting in the seizure of a number of e‑scooters and electrically assisted bicycles, while several individuals were also reported or dealt with for related offences.

    Actioned 01 July 2026
