About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area. 

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

    Anti-social behaviour (ASB), and youth related crime and disorder (e.g. youth related ASB, large groups or threatening behaviours)

    Swiftly responding to incidents of ASB and effectively using policing powers available to intervene - including powers of dispersal where the actions of individuals or groups impact their wider surroundings; which can lead to wider harm, including the misuse of public spaces or buildings, criminal damage or vandalism, for example graffiti or damage to public buildings.

    Action taken:

    • Continued work alongside partners and youth organisations, including schools and colleges to identify opportunities for early intervention with individuals at risk of causing ASB.

    • Additional patrols in local parks, and open green spaces in the area to address and take action against reports of ASB in the form of nuisance caused by youngsters in the area.

    • Work continues with roads safety units to conduct enforcement and educational checks in areas of reported ASB driving associated with off road bikes, and e-scooters.

    Acquisitive crime including theft from and theft of motor vehicles.

    Action taken:

    •Extra patrols focused in areas of reported theft from or of motor vehicles, namely moped/two wheeled vehicles, with patrols aimed at deterring crime and identifying suspects.

    •Arrests have been made following recent spate of vehicle crime, details of those published to our Eastbourne Police Facebook page and the Sussex Police news page on our Sussex Police website.

    Business Crime

    Supporting businesses in targeting repeat offenders, and working to reduce business crime through collaborative work, through both increased patrols, and police and partner led operations to tackle business crime, and bring those responsible to justice.

    Action taken:

    • Additional patrols under the Summer Of Action initiative aimed offering a high visibility police presence will see a number of extra hours spent in the town in the coming months, with significant arrests for business crime related offences being published on social media and our Sussex Police website.

    • Successful arrest locally of known male shoplifter, 10 counts of shoplifting, charged and issued prison sentence, and place on a 12 months tagging system along with a criminal behaviour order restricting male from entering Co-op.
