Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

    Shoplifting and acquisitive crime

    Issued 26 June 2026

    Action taken:

We have visited local stores in Staines and given target hardening advice. To go with this we have carried out targeted disruption of criminals on the road network, particularly repeat offenders and those involved in acquisitive crime.

    Actioned 26 June 2026

  • Priority:

    Anti-social behaviour

    Issued 22 June 2026

    Action taken:

There has been a 47% reduction in ASB between March and April 2026. Officers continue to provide some regular high visible foot patrols in Staines town centre. As we continue to work closely with our partners to help reduce the presence of large groups of youths.

    Actioned 22 June 2026

  • Priority:

Use of Bikes through the pedestrianised area area of the town and the Public Spaces Protection Order.

    Issued 22 June 2026

    Action taken:

We have issued Section 59 warnings to individuals seen riding mopeds or motorcycles within the pedestrianised area. The council has introduced gates into the High Street in order to deter those from riding or driving. Cyclists using the pedestrian zone have been reminded of the restrictions and asked to dismount while travelling through the area.

    Actioned 22 June 2026

  • Priority:

Use of Catapults against property and wildlife

    Issued 22 June 2026

    Action taken:

We continue to monitor Staines Town and Urban for any catapulting offences and shall deal with those identified robustly. The PSPO continues to be active for the locality of Staines so this will be pursued jointly by police and council as an extra measure to deter those looking to offend. We have been encouraging those unsure to report catapult offences to us at our meet the beats.

    Actioned 22 June 2026

  • Priority:

Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG)
From our public engagements with the community, it’s been identified that it is early hours of the morning and the hours of evening that are the most concerning, whereby inappropriate or unpleasant behaviour occurs.
Many persons identified areas around the major transport links, such as Ashford Train Station and Sunbury Underpass.

    Issued 26 June 2026

    Action taken:

Addressing these concerns, we have increased high visibility and plain clothes patrols in these hot spots at the times identified as particularly worrying. We will work with partner agencies such as Spelthorne Borough Council and British Transport Police to find a long term solution to improve the safety in these areas.

We organise regular public engagement events and meetings to raise the public’s awareness of Violence Against Women and Girls and to give everyone an opportunity to talk to us about anything of concern.

PUBWATCH. We work at with licenced premises in Spelthorne to tackle issues such as drink spiking and alcohol related ASB towards women.

We monitor know offenders in the community and regularly assess any risk to the public. We take action as soon as it is required to protect the public.

    Actioned 26 June 2026
