About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area. 

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

    Environmental concerns- Fly tipping

    Action taken:

    Fly tipping is an ongoing issue in Splott and the team is working to install CCTV cameras around fly tipping sites to deter fly tipping offences and to catch offenders. The team has increased it's presence around these areas to further reduce offenses and provide relief when possible.

    Travellers and Horses - Tremorfa park

    Action taken:

    The Neighbourhood Policing Team is taking an intelligence lead approach when it comes to this issue, monitoring the situation closely and taking in community calls. Operation Luzula is still ongoing and the team continues to disrupt Traveller activity.

    E-bike related thefts

    Action taken:

    E-bike related thefts are an issue the local Neighbourhood Policing Team are taking seriously. Uniformed officers are routinely patrolling the ward to deter and disrupt any potential thefts. In May alone, eleven E-bikes were seized under an operation specifically to deal with this matter. Investigations into thefts are ongoing, with offenders being identified where possible and appropriate enforcement action taken. The aim is to reduce theft incidents and increase community confidence in the area.

    Fly-Tipping and Travellers on Seawall Road / Splott Ward

    Action taken:

    Fly tipping and travellers are an ongoing issue on the Splott ward. The team is undergoing operation Luzula, which aims to target Traveller groups involved with thefts in the Splott Ward and cause disruption to their activities. The team is also working to install CCTV cameras around fly tipping sites to deter fly tipping offences and to catch offenders.

    Vehicle crime

    Action taken:

    Autocrime continues to impact Splott, with thefts from vehicles remaining prevalent. The team has targeted offenders through Operation Salvage, resulting in arrests and disruption of repeat offending. Residents are being proactively engaged with advice on securing vehicles, and ongoing patrols aim to prevent further incidents. The combination of enforcement and prevention work is reducing harm and increasing confidence in the local area.

    Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) - Hostels

    Action taken:

    VAWG remains a key priority in Splott, particularly concerning vulnerable women living in or around local hostels. The team continues proactive engagement, safeguarding work, and targeted operations under Operation Red Swan. Close partnership with hostel staff, outreach teams, and support services ensures vulnerable individuals are protected and that offending behaviour is disrupted.

    Anti-social behaviour - Tremorfa Park

    Action taken:

    Tremorfa Park continues to experience anti-social behaviour, particularly linked to groups gathering in the evenings. The Neighbourhood Policing Team has increased visibility in the area and is engaging with local residents to address concerns. Work continues with partners to provide positive alternatives and encourage responsible use of the park. Regular patrols and targeted interventions aim to reduce nuisance behaviour and improve the park for all users.
