Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

    Road Safety & Speeding

    Issued 16 March 2026

    Action taken:

Officers will begin conducting speed scoping operations at various locations across the ward to assess the extent of the issue and identify hotspots for further enforcement and intervention.

    Actioned 16 March 2026

  • Priority:

Shoplifting in the area - in particular the Co-op Colcot Road and One Stop Winston Road.

    Issued 16 December 2025

    Action taken:

Over the previous period, the ward priority of shoplifting was addressed through proactive engagement with local retailers. Officers encouraged businesses to make full use of the NICE Investigate platform to streamline evidence sharing and support faster case progression. This was complemented by increased targeted patrols in key areas, helping to deter offenders and reassure the community.

    Actioned 16 March 2026

  • Priority:

Vehicle Crime / antisocial behaviour - Buttrills Field and Neighbourhood disputes - North Walk

    Issued 16 September 2025

    Action taken:

In last three months in the Dyfan ward there have been 5 theft from / theft of motor vehicle. Three of these could have been prevented by basic crime prevention being followed. One of the vehicles was stolen when the keys were left in the ignition, the engine running and the owner left the vehicle unattended. Another vehicle was insecure with the rear window left open and three new rugby shirts were left on the back seat in plain view to allow the thief to reach in and steal them. The third one was where the owner was aware of a faulty lock on the vehicle but hadn’t ensured the vehicle was locked before leaving it unattended.
3 persons were arrested in relation to the 5 offences and both stolen vehicles were recovered. Vehicle crime is no longer a priority.

With regard to ASB Buttrills Field- Hi visibility patrols have taken place at relevant times and there has been a reduction of calls. No longer a priority.

Neighbour issues -North Walk- one of the persons involved in the dispute has been arrested and is currently serving a custodial sentence.

    Actioned 15 December 2025

  • Priority:

Vehicle Crime / antisocial behaviour - Buttrills Field and Neighbourhood disputes - North Walk

    Issued 17 June 2025

    Action taken:

We have carried out high-visibility patrols in identified areas.

We have patrolled hotspots for drug-related activity and gathered intelligence.

    Actioned 16 September 2025
