About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

    Anti-social behaviour

    Issued 28 July 2026

    Action taken:

The Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to conduct high-visibility patrols across the area to deter anti-social behaviour and provide reassurance to local residents. We are proactively identifying offenders and working closely with housing providers, anti-social behaviour enforcement officers, and tenancy management teams to address concerns and reduce repeat offending.

We are also relaunching our Police and Communities Together (PACT) meetings, providing regular opportunities for residents and local councillors to engage with the policing team. These meetings help ensure that we are listening to community concerns, gathering valuable local intelligence, and working collaboratively to support ongoing problem-solving and neighbourhood policing priorities.

    Actioned 28 July 2026

  • Priority:

    Shoplifting

    Issued 28 July 2026

    Action taken:

Our officers are proactively targeting known offenders and nominals. As a result, two individuals have recently been charged with a total of 32 offences and have both been remanded into custody.
We continue to support repeat victims by providing crime prevention advice and reassurance. In addition, civil orders are being utilised to help manage and disrupt the activities of prolific offenders

    Actioned 28 July 2026

  • Priority:

Motorbike Anti-Social Behaviour at Silksworth Ski Slope

    Issued 28 July 2026

    Action taken:

We have continued our efforts to tackle motorbike-related disorder in the Plains Farm and Silksworth areas. Working alongside colleagues from Operation Capio, we have conducted targeted patrols and joint operations with Sunderland City Council and other key partners.

    Actioned 28 July 2026
