About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area. 

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

    ASB, crime and disorder along the coastal areas of Seaburn and Roker during the summer months.

    Action taken:

    OP Coastwatch is a police led operation together with Sunderland City Council Community Safety Team to conduct patrols in hotspot locations to deter and disrupt anti-social behaviour ASB, crime and disorder.

  • Priority:

    Youth ASB in Witherwack, Downhill and Hylton Castle. Groups of youths have been targetting Stage Coach Buses.

    Action taken:

    Officers have identified and continue to identify the youths involved through partnership working. Home visits have taken place together with housing associations. A problem solving plan is in place as we tackle the issue.

    Youth ASB targeted at services buses across Witherwack, Hylton Castle and Downhill.

    Officers will be conducting targeted patrols together with Sunderland City Councils Community Safety team to deter and prevent ASB towards bus drivers and the public.

    Shoplifting across Sunderland North

    Action taken:

    Neighbourhood officers will be targeting the most prolific offenders as a priority to reduce shop thefts and increase trust and confidence. To support this the OP Canvas team has been set up to process named offenders who fall outside of the most prolific criteria in order to reduce demand on response officers so they can be there when the public need us.

    Motorbike and Electric Scooter Anti-social Behaviour

    Action taken:

    Neighbourhood officers will support the Sunderland OP Capio (motorcycle ASB taskforce) team to tackle motorbike and electric scooter anti-social behaviour (ASB) across Sunderland North but with a focus on our hotspot locations of Fulwell Quarry and Roker Park.
