About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

Road safety and road traffic offences

    Issued 14 October 2026

    Action taken:

    • A number of speed enforcement operations have taken place across Stoke Bruerne, Harpole, Nether Heyford, Whittlebury, Shutlanger, and Towcester, which have resulted in speeding tickets being issued as well as safety advice given to drivers spoken to.
    • In addition to these operations, there has also been positive action taken by officers under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act due to anti-social or careless behaviour witnessed by officers involving vehicles.
    • Parking issues and general road safety issues have been focused on as well in areas surrounding schools, as well as road safety talks by officers.

    Actioned 14 October 2026

  • Priority:

    Drug dealing and drug misuse

    Issued 14 October 2026

    Action taken:

    • Over the last six months, our officers have been actively involved with a number of lengthy investigations focusing on the disruption of drug use and supply.
    • As part of this, there has been a regular focus on both high visibility proactive patrols, as well as intelligence led warrants and disruption, resulting in a significant amount of drugs being seized, intelligence gathered and offenders brought to justice.

    Actioned 14 October 2026

  • Priority:

    Rural crime

    Issued 14 October 2026

    Action taken:

    • Our force wide Rural Crime Team (RCT) has seen some fantastic results across the county and continue to focus their attention on our most rural communities, including those across the South Northants area.
    • This focus will continue going forward and our local officers are always on the lookout for opportunities to combine their skills, knowledge, and local expertise to work in conjunction with the RCT.

    Actioned 14 October 2026

  • Priority:

The new priorities for this period (October 2026 to March 2027) remain the same:
    • Rural crime
    • Road safety and road traffic offences
    • Drug dealing and drug misuse

    Issued 25 September 2026

    Action taken:

Our priorities are set for a six month period and reviewed every three months to ensure we continue to deal with what matters most to local people, taking account of feedback shared in our local priorities survey and local crime data.
