About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

The new priorities for this period (April 2026 to September 2026) are:
    • Burglary
    • Road safety and road traffic offences
    • Drug dealing and drug misuse

    Issued 09 July 2026

    Action taken:

Our priorities are set for a six month period and reviewed every three months to ensure we continue to deal with what matters most to local people, taking account of feedback shared in our local priorities survey and local crime data.
To have your say on what you would like your neighbourhood officers to focus on, and to get updates from them about crime and policing activity in your area, please visit Northamptonshire Talking https://www.northamptonshiretalking.co.uk/ or click on the link at the top of the page.

Here's an update on our work to tackle local priorities from April to June 2026:

    Burglary
    · There have been 33 reported burglaries in the Suburban South West sector of Northampton.
    · Neighbourhood officers continue to support specialist burglary investigators by carrying out house-to-house enquiries, conducting leaflet drops and providing crime prevention advice to residents and businesses.

    Drug dealing and drug misuse
    · There have been 44 reported drug offences, with 22 of these resulting in a positive outcome. This includes 11 charges, eight community resolutions, and three adult cautions.
    · We have executed two warrants at addresses across the area, both of which had positive outcomes. One conditional caution has been issued, and one case is awaiting a charging decision.

Road safety and road traffic offences
    · There have been 44 reported thefts from motor vehicles, 25 reported thefts of motor vehicles, and 18 reported vehicle interferences in the Suburban South West sector of Northampton.
    · A traffic operation was conducted in May across the Upton, Duston and Harlestone areas, resulting in three traffic tickets being issued.
    · We have also launched Operation Watch-Lens, which involves proactive and plain clothes patrols being carried out in key hotspot areas.
    · We have issued one motorcyclist with a Notice of Intended Prosecution for a number of offences, as well as two Section 59 warnings.
    · We have been working on a partnership problem solving initiative with the Safer Roads Team and Brackmills Industrial Estate to tackle car cruising. As a result, a number of motorists have been issued with Notices of Intended Prosecution for traffic offences. Extra patrols have been conducted in the area and moving cameras have been deployed to capture offences. We continue to promote Operation Snap, which allows the public to report driving offences by uploading digital evidence.
    · We have also launched a partnership problem solving initiative to tackle further car cruising at Sixfields. Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) signs have been installed, and intelligence continues to be gathered.
