About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

Continuing our focus on tackling antisocial behaviour and criminal activity.

    Issued 30 April 2026

    Action taken:

Wrexham Rural Patrol and Neighbourhood Officers continue to tackle antisocial behaviour across the district, working alongside our partner agencies, providing a sustained and affective response to anti-social behaviour (ASB) and criminal activity, identifying solutions to prevent reoffending, utilising education and intervention programmes. Operation Lampoon has also been initiated in response to ASB within the Ruabon area. We have also been proactive around the district, undertaking several drug warrants that resulted in a total of seven arrests for drug related offences and possession of offensive weapons. A further warrant was conducted at a site in Rhos that resulted in the discovery of a comprehensive cannabis grow and over 250 cannabis plants being seized. Neighbourhood Officers have been successful in securing a Closure Order for an address in Gwersyllt following reports of antisocial, nuisance, and drug related activity, whilst also providing safeguarding for the vulnerable resident. Officers were successful in apprehending three persons responsible for over twenty-five vehicle related crimes that occurred in one evening around the Ruabon area. A new initiative has also been introduced by our Neighbourhood Team, working with store managers to ensure affective evidence gathering, expeditious investigations and apprehension of suspects for shoplifting offences. Over the winter period, Operation Luna was launched to enhance women’s safety during the hours of darkness. This initiative saw officers increase foot patrols after dark to offer reassurance and create safer environments with accompanied guided walks throughout the district.

    Actioned 30 April 2026

  • Priority:

Visibility and engagement with our communities.

    Issued 30 April 2026

    Action taken:

Wrexham Rural Patrol and Neighbourhood Teams are still achieving some of the highest ‘out of station’ results in the force, meaning that officers are spending more time within the communities they police. More of our staff are now trained in safely using our electric bikes, providing an alternative source of visible mobile patrol by our Police Community Support Officers. We continue to promote the use of social media as an alternative means of engagement and communication, providing regular information and updates within the district. In addition, we are available to meet directly with the communities through our police surgeries which alternate between Rhos and Llay every month. Wherever possible, Wrexham Rural Neighbourhood Policing Team continue to provide a visible presence at community events whilst also attending outside school premises to monitor road safety.

    Actioned 30 April 2026

  • Priority:

    Policing our Community Roads.

    Issued 30 April 2026

    Action taken:

Wrexham Rual officers have been working with our communities to identify and reduce road offences including speeding and inconsiderate parking. This is being achieved through education with local schools and enforcement opportunities with our Roads Crime Unit. Our Neighbourhood Policing Team continue to utilise opportunities to conduct speed enforcement and education exercises at identified locations. Our colleagues in GO SAFE also attend designated sites where we have received feedback and issues from our communities. Operation Vroom has been initiated in Wrexham Rural tackling the increased use of illegal E-Bikes, E-Scooters and off-road bikes by utilising intelligence and targeting specific such as Gwersyllt and Glyn Ceriog.
