About us

    We work with the community and local partners, while also looking at our own data, to come up with priorities for Gorleston for the next three months. These are currently
    Tackling anti-social behaviour - focusing on alcohol/drug concerns and vehicle misuse.

    Action taken:

    - Proactive and high‑visibility patrols were carried out across Gorleston, with continued focus on OP FOCUS locations and the Gorleston High Street as part of an ongoing Problem Solving Plan. These patrols aimed to deter ASB, identify offenders early, and provide reassurance to the public.
    - Engagement and reassurance activity was delivered within the community, including visits to Gorleston Library and attendance at International Women’s Day at the Pavilion Theatre. Positive interactions were also achieved with local schools through regular presence and engagement.
    - Youth‑focused work remained a priority. Preventative and educational inputs were delivered at East Norfolk Sixth Form, addressing grooming and sexortion with healthcare students. Further engagement took place through Sea Cadets, a YAB event, and direct contact with youths involved in ASB on the High Street.
    - Anti‑social behaviour on the High Street was actively managed through repeat visits and early intervention. A number of ASB warning letters were issued, alongside proportionate use of words of advice to deter further incidents.
    - Work to tackle shoplifting and retail crime was supported through attendance at the Norwich BID conference. Best practice learned was reviewed and applied locally to strengthen the approach within the district.
    - Partnership working continued throughout the reporting period. CCTV best practice training was completed with TV Gorleston to support effective monitoring and joint working. Joint meetings were also held with police partners to address ongoing concerns at Recreation Football Grounds.
    - Road safety and parking concerns were addressed through multi‑agency activity. Patrols were completed with the Roads Policing team along Middleton Road, while pavement parking issues near recreational areas were tackled through a local letter drop, resulting in one Traffic Offence Report being issued.
    - Additional patrols were conducted on local bus routes between Great Yarmouth and Gorleston, targeting known hotspot areas. These patrols increased visibility and reassured passengers and transport staff.
    - Intelligence submissions were completed to Crimestoppers relating to suspected money laundering activity, supporting wider efforts to disrupt organised and financial crime.
    -Visits to Cliff Park Primary School to speak to children about police work.
    -Intelligence submitted around drug usage.
    -Work around vehicle antisocial behaviour completed in area of Beautfort Way including patrols, engagement with road users, and issuing of bike safety advice.
    - Liaising with local businesses, introducing sharps boxes, and installing antisocial behaviour monitoring signs.

    Man identified and charged for 10 shoplifting offences, and recalled to prison.

    Local shops re-educated around alcohol sells in relation to upcoming football World Cup.

    Gorleston library community events attended and both partner agencies and members of the public spoken to.

    Patrols around the library and a number of people spoken to regarding the Public Spaces Protection Order in place in the area.

    Action taken:

    Two Acceptable Behaviour Contracts issued to young people as a result of antisocial behaviour being identified.

    Continuous work is being completed with local businesses and young people to build rapport and deter nuisance behaviour.

    Patrols are being completed within the immediate area to identify hot spots where antisocial behaviour is taking place.

    Male arrested on the High Street for Possession of Class B -Cannabis and Section 5 Public Order Act - charged and bailed to not enter Gorleston High Street between Baker Street and Bulls Lane.

    Letter drop completed at Beaufort Business Park following reports of vehicle nuisance and Environmental Health concerns, namely litter.

    Trading Standards joint visit completed to a Vape Business upon Gorleston High Street to ensure all was in order following intelligence build, upon visit all rules and regulations were being complied with.

    Visit completed to Stradbrooke to highlight best practice for online safety for Year’s 5 and 6’s, and a Personal Safety PowerPoint given to Year’s 1, 2, 3 and 4.

    Attendance completed at Social Services Living Library at East Norfolk Sixth Form whereby students showed a large interest in joining the Police.

    Intelligence build continues around reports of the smell of cannabis upon Baker Street, and patrols have been completed in the area with positive interactions with members of the public.

    Visits completed to youths identified causing anti social behaviour in Gorleston Library and issued sufficient words of advice with parents present.

    Words of advice issued to an offending vehicle persistently parking on white zig zag lines evidenced by CCTV footage.

    Visit completed to youths identified as causing anti social behaviour in Gorleston Library and Morrisons, Blackwall Reach, and sufficient words of advice was issued with parents present.

    Attended Hopton School Summer Fete and engaged with multiple members of the public, resulting in positive community engagement. In addition I attended Lynn Grove for their school yearly event, in the engagement we discussed the role of a Police Officer and applied this into practice.

    During alcohol awareness week we attended Gorleston Library and Tesco Express Stores holding an pop-up event at each location and engaging with members of the public regarding the Community Alcohol Partnership.

    Residental property upon Baker Street to issue Acceptable Behaviour Contract for the smell of cannabis emitting from the address,

    A positive engagement event was held at a local school, evidencing positive relations built over the past school year.

    Four words of advice issued to youths and their respective parents regarding youths climbing on the Ocean Rooms, and 13 ASB Stage One Letters have been issued to youths causing nuisance.

    Addressed reports of youths stealing traffic road signs. A Community Resolution was issued, requiring the return of the signs and an agreement to refrain from anti-social behaviour in public places.High-visibility patrols were conducted in local ASB hotspot areas, with ongoing work alongside local high schools to identify those involved and provide reassurance through letters and home visits.

    Met with staff at James Paget Hospital, to discuss joint working opportunities aimed at reducing anti-social behaviour, violence, and abuse towards hospital staff. Concerns were raised regarding the under-reporting of incidents, and plans made fore more regular attendance.

    Attended the Beacon Innovation Centre to discuss future partnership work with Solace, focusing on engaging young people and improving understanding of policing in the UK compared with experiences in their countries of origin.

    Supported community engagement events, including attendance at the Clifftop Gala, which proved to be a successful family-focused event with positive interaction between the public and the police.
