About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

    Shirley North ward priority Drug related ASB

    The team have received concerns of drug related ASB in several block on Peter Kennedy Court, this particularly around later afternoon and early evening time where there have been reports of school children causing the ASB in the block.

    Action taken:

    High visibility patrols have been conducted in the affected area and will continue with the use of stop and search powers where grounds exist.
    There will also be consideration for community protection warnings and notices to be issued to those who persistently cause ASB within the area.
    Engagement with residents has also been completed to offer reassurance and highlight police presence within the area.

  • Priority:

    Motor Vehicle Crime ASB

    Reports of vehicle related ASB have been reported by local resident of Shirley Oaks. Their concerns have been discussed in Ward panels and community engagement events and particularly focussed on dangerous driving/speeding along Primrose Lane which is the main connecting road around the Shirley Oaks estate.

    The team will seek to:
    - Conduct local speed gun operations on and around Primrose Lane
    - Engage with local community regarding any intelligence of repeat offenders
    - Consider section 59’s for any offenders committing vehicle related ASB

  • Priority:

    Shoplifting

    Following an increase in recorded shoplifting offences and some good positive work from the team, the ward panel were keen to maintain the work by adding it as one of the priorities. It has been discussed as a ward priority at every ward panel since and the community concern survey highlights that shoplifting is a priority for residents of the ward

    Action taken:

    The team have been working with BP Shirley Road to tackle prolific shoplifting in the area and we will be continuing this work along with stores along Wickham Road such as the Co-op who have been similarly targeted by offenders. We will be working with local business to catch prolific shoplifters on the ward.
