    Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG)

    Carry out three community engagement events this quarter focused on raising awareness and addressing Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) within Hayes Town Ward.

    Action taken:

    As part of the VAWG ward priority, the Hayes Town Safer Neighbourhood Team has been carrying out proactive engagement and reassurance work to support victims and raise awareness of VAWG related issues. Officers have completed reassurance visits, provided safety and crime prevention advice, and signposted support services where appropriate. The team has also engaged with residents through day to day patrols, Met Engage sign ups, and partnership working, with further community engagement events planned this quarter to continue improving confidence in reporting and access to support.

  • Priority:

    To reduce the use of electric propelled vehicles (including e scooters and e bikes) ridden on pavements in Hayes Town through targeted enforcement, proactive patrols, and community engagement over the next three months.

    Action taken:

    To address concerns around electric scooters and e bikes being ridden on pavements, the team has delivered targeted high visibility patrols across Hayes Town, focusing on known hotspot locations. Officers have challenged riders seen using pavements unlawfully, provided words of advice, and carried out checks and enforcement where appropriate. These patrols have been supported by community engagement, allowing officers to explain the risks to pedestrians and reinforce legal responsibilities, helping to improve safety and reduce complaints from residents.

  • Priority:

    To reduce Anti Social Behaviour across the Hayes Town ward, with particular focus on street drinking, drug use, and associated behaviours, including continued attention on East Avenue as a key hotspot, through targeted enforcement, visible policing, and partnership working over the next three months.

    Action taken:

    The Hayes Town Safer Neighbourhood Team has continued to prioritise the reduction of ASB across the ward, with particular attention on street drinking, drug use, and repeat hotspot locations such as East Avenue. Officers have conducted regular patrols, spoken with residents to identify concerns, and taken visible action including moving on street drinkers and advising that Community Protection Warnings may be issued if behaviour continues. Joint working with council services, tenancy management, and partner agencies has supported a problem solving approach, with proactive patrols and engagement contributing to improved reassurance and reductions in reported issues in some areas.
