About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

We are responding to community concerns linked to drug activity in several areas of the ward. Over the last month we are aware of reports of drug dealing taking place from residential properties in the northern end of the ward towards Crown Street.

    Issued 30 September 2026

    Action taken:

We continue to work closely with our partner organisations, including local councillors, the Cathedral Constables, housing providers and other key stakeholders, to deliver a coordinated response to the issues affecting the area. This collaborative approach enables us to address community concerns, tackle criminality and identify longer-term solutions to improve the local environment.
Officers continue to carry out regular high-visibility and plain-clothes patrols throughout the area, engaging with residents, businesses and community representatives. These conversations help us better understand local concerns, identify emerging issues and gather valuable information that supports ongoing enforcement and problem-solving activity.
Over recent weeks, officers have undertaken several proactive operations aimed at disrupting criminality and anti-social behaviour. This activity remains a key part of our approach to keeping the area safe and responding to concerns raised by the community.
We are aware of reports relating to suspected drug dealing linked to several residential properties in the areas of Huskisson Street, Gambier Terrace and Hope Street. Officers are actively progressing enquiries and utilising a combination of targeted patrols, intelligence-led activity and partnership working to better understand the issues and identify those responsible. We continue to work closely with residents and ward councillors and are seeking further engagement with both Onward Homes and Riverside Housing to support a coordinated response where appropriate.
Whilst information received from residents has assisted our understanding of the issues affecting the area, we remain of the view that some incidents and intelligence may not be being reported through official policing channels. Community reports are key in helping officers develop the fullest intelligence picture, identify patterns of offending and secure appropriate enforcement action. We would therefore encourage anyone with information, no matter how small it may seem, to continue sharing it with Merseyside Police or anonymously through Crimestoppers.
Information provided by residents, businesses and members of the community continues to play a vital role in helping us target our activity effectively. Reports relating to suspicious behaviour, drug-related activity and anti-social behaviour enable both police and partner agencies to take informed action and develop effective long-term solutions to address local concerns.
We will continue to work alongside partner agencies, schools, housing providers and local organisations to develop intelligence, tackle offending and safeguard vulnerable individuals. This partnership approach allows us to utilise the most appropriate legal powers and interventions to address criminality, reduce anti-social behaviour and improve the quality of life for those who live, work and visit the area.
We would also encourage all residents and businesses to continue reporting incidents of anti-social behaviour. Reporting helps us build an accurate picture of the issues affecting the community and supports the use of measures such as Community Protection Warnings, Community Protection Notices and other appropriate interventions. The more information we receive, the more effectively we can direct resources and take evidence-led action against those causing harm within the area.
If you have information about drug dealing, you can report it anonymously to Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or online via:
    https://crimestoppers-uk.org/give-information/forms/pre-form
Incidents can be reported to Merseyside Police by calling 101, or 999 in an emergency. Reports can also be made online or in person at the General Enquiry Offices located at Admiral Street Police Station and St Anne Street Police Station.
