About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

    ASB:
The community have raised the issue of Anti-Social Behaviour in various locations across the beat including nuisance bikes, loud cars and antisocial young people.

    Issued 01 October 2026

    Action taken:

The NR32 Town North Team have continued proactive daytime and evening patrols across areas identified as anti-social behaviour (ASB) hotspots this month. This forms part of our ongoing commitment to tackling the issues that matter most to residents and keeping our communities safe and reassured.

This month, several e-scooters and illegal e-motorbikes have been seized after officers identified them being used unlawfully on the public highway. Officers will continue to use the powers available to them under anti-social behaviour and road traffic legislation to tackle their illegal and anti-social use.

The team has also continued to take action against individuals responsible for ASB. Community Protection Warnings (CPWs) and Community Protection Notices (CPNs) have been issued, arrests have been made for breaches, and charges and convictions have been secured against offenders. These measures demonstrate that continued or persistent anti-social behaviour will be dealt with robustly.

Partnership working remains an important part of our approach. Throughout the month, the team has continued to work closely with local schools and Melton Borough Council to address ongoing concerns, identify those responsible and put appropriate interventions and enforcement measures in place.

  • Priority:

    Drug Activity:
The community have raised the issue of Drug use and dealing on the Melton Town North Beat.

    Issued 01 October 2026

    Action taken:

We continue to encourage members of the community to report any information or concerns to us. Your support plays a crucial role in helping us keep the area safe and protect those who live and work within it.

We are actively using stop and search powers where appropriate and where legal grounds are met, as part of our ongoing efforts to tackle drug possession and supply. These proactive measures are aimed at disrupting criminal activity and reducing harm within the community.

Information and intelligence provided by the local community is used directly to support enforcement action by the police and council, leading to warrants being executed and closure orders being placed on properties being used in criminality and causing harm to the local area.

We remain committed to taking robust action against those involved in criminality and will continue to act on the information provided by the public.

    Actioned 01 October 2026

  • Priority:

    Road Safety:
Complaints have been received following vehicles speeding along various routes through the beat - including Nottingham Road, Thorpe Road, Melton Spinney Road, Tennyson Way and Pork Pie Way.

    Issued 01 October 2026

    Action taken:

The NR32 Town North team has continued to proactively address road safety concerns throughout the month. Regular stop checks are being carried out, and any driving offences identified are dealt with appropriately.

Changes to Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002 have strengthened the powers available to officers when dealing with vehicle-related anti-social behaviour. Officers are no longer generally required to issue a warning before seizing a vehicle. Where the legal requirements are met, a vehicle can now be seized at the first incident, allowing officers to take immediate action against vehicles being used in an anti-social manner. The change removing the prior-warning requirement came into force in 2026.

A significant portion of the new Pork Pie Way runs through the team’s policing area, and concerns are continuing to be raised regarding the manner in which some vehicles are using the bypass. Officers will continue to patrol the route, and speed enforcement is being considered in areas subject to the 40mph speed limit.

Joint agency work is also taking place in response to concerns surrounding vehicle-related anti-social behaviour on and around the bypass. We are working with our partners to explore further measures that could be introduced, including the potential use of a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO), to help address persistent issues and give agencies additional options to tackle behaviour that negatively impacts the local community.
