About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

ASB - dirtbikes and scrambler motorbikes racing around the villages of Groby and Ratby as well as the Martinshaw woods.

    Issued 01 July 2026

    Action taken:

We have seen an increase in the number of reported incidents of Anti - Social Behaviour in the recent weeks in the Ratby area, involving teenagers. This ASB has now increased in nature to Criminal Damage and other offences. We have seen issues at the following locations: Use of Illegal of E-bikes/E-scooters and off road motorbikes on Jenny's Way and through Martinshaw Woods; Smashed windows at Ratby Primary School; Criminal damage to Ratby football club storage containers; Vandalism to the changing rooms at Ratby Cricket Club and Vandalism at Pear Tree Allotments. This is just a small number of the incidents so far with other locations not listed but we are aware of. Patrols have increased in Ratby, crime prevention devices have been given out already to some locations with more to be visited. Parents, can we ask that you are aware of where you children are in Ratby and what they are getting up to. It is only a small few that are sadly spoiling things for everyone else. If people are aware of who's involved or have information that might help stop this behaviour from escalating further, please contact Leicestershire Police and the beat team will happily look into this as a matter of urgency.

    Actioned 29 July 2026

  • Priority:

Overweight vehicles are driving through restricted areas causing problems for villages and getting stuck.

    Issued 01 July 2026

    Action taken:

We are working with local villages and parish councils to understand the issue, identifying companies that are repeatedly committing these breaches and will be taking a phased approach to resolving the matters via awareness and enforcement. Proactive operations are planned to take place in hot spot areas where offending vehicles will be dealt with positively.

    Actioned 29 July 2026

  • Priority:

Crimes of burglary from dwelling through the rural villages beat.

    Issued 01 July 2026

    Action taken:

To combat this you can expect your local police team to be out on high visibility patrols. Where victims of crime are identified, visits to neighbouring properties have been completed to explore all possible lines of enquiry and to ensure that crime prevention advice and equipment is provided to reduce the risk of future victims.
