Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

At this time of year, there is a predictable seasonal rise in chain-snatch offences due to:
Longer daylight hours and more people outdoors
Increased footfall around parks, high streets, places of worship
Festivals, weddings, and community events where jewellery is worn openly
Offenders using bikes/e-scooters for fast snatch-and-escape route

    Issued 01 April 2026

    Action taken:

Key Points to Assess (for local AD):
Hotspot locations on the beat (e.g. specific roads, temples, bus stops, shopping areas)
Peak times (likely late afternoon–evening, weekends, event dates)
Any known offenders or nominals linked to robberies/theft-from-person
Scooter/e bike sightings associated with previous offences
Patterns from previous years (repeat seasonal trend)
    Community Engagement
Speak to local temples, churches, community centres, and elderly groups.
Deliver simple prevention messages, such as: Keep jewellery covered in public Walk with others after events
    Report suspicious behaviour immediately

    Actioned 01 June 2026

  • Priority:

    We have checked the systems and seen an increased report in the stated areas of ASB;

Road safety – As a team we are planning on increasing the road safety operations such as multi agency traffic operation. We also intend to involve other agencies, and we are working on this to aid education around road safety and the impacts RTC’s have on everyone involved.
