About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Prolific Shoplifting

    Issued 01 April 2026

    Action taken:

Operation Vulture sees officers working closely with businesses to prevent crime and to identify and target offenders. This has resulted in numerous of our prolific offenders being issued with Civil Orders upon prosecution. These run side by side prosecutions and make it more difficult for the offender to re-offend.

Winter of Action sees our officers tackle those areas which have been highlighted as areas that have high anti-social behaviour issues. This includes both high visibility patrols, targeted operations and the use of civil orders for those involved in ASB in the area.

Lots of our activity is published on our Facebook channels. We welcome you to get involved in the public survey Lancashire Talking so you can inform us about local issues, then we can send information specific to the area you live/work. Want to have your say? Sign up to Lancashire Talking at this link https://mymsg.uk/r0vf.

  • Priority:

Motorcycle Anti-social Behaviour, Juvenile Nuisance, Organised Crime Gang Drug activity, Prolific Shoplifting.

    Issued 01 September 2025

    Action taken:

Chorley Police and Chorley Council hold monthly Guardians meetings in an attempt to tackle antisocial behaviour (ASB) within Chorley. These meetings help to prevent further issues, get support for young people, or take action against them if they do not engage.
Officers engage with young people, break down barriers, and work to improve their trust with the Police. ASB has reduced in the Chorley area with youth home visits and youth arrests, but we have seen a rise in the area of Clayton Brook. A day of action has taken place in this area, and further high visibility patrols will continue.

Chorley has seen a rise in motorcycle ASB with many incidents reported in the area of Buttermere, Birkacre, Pall Mall, Healey Nab, Eaves Lane, Clayton Brook and Whittle. Our Neighbourhood Policing teams have been working hard to tackle the issue. Some ways we do this is by home visits to the suspects with the housing provider. We also use a public survey called Lancashire Talking to engage with the public.

Over the past year, officers have executed a number of drug warrants at various addresses across the Chorley area. These warrants have been executed, and inside large, sophisticated cannabis farms have been located. Multiple arrests have been made at these addresses.

PCSOs work with our retail sector, going shop to shop handing out posters and leaflets about theft with a QR code to report the crime. Officers have given crime prevention advice to staff members, been on foot patrol in and around stores, and use the town centre CCTV radio link to report and observe suspects. Following our engagement, many stores have since upgraded their CCTV and employed a Security Guard.
