Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

    Antisocial behaviour caused by youths.

    Action taken:

    Officers continue to work with young people involved in antisocial behaviour to address concerns at an early stage, prevent further incidents and encourage positive behaviour.

    Where appropriate, Community Protection Warnings and Community Protection Notices are used to tackle behaviour that is having a negative impact on local residents. A Community Protection Warning is a formal warning that highlights concerns about a person's behaviour. If the behaviour continues, a Community Protection Notice can be issued, which sets legal requirements that must be followed and can lead to further enforcement action if breached. For younger people, officers may use Acceptable Behaviour Agreements, which are voluntary agreements between a young person, their family and partner organisations that set out clear expectations for future behaviour and encourage positive choices. Officers also work closely with parents and guardians, carrying out visits and offering support to help address concerns and prevent further incidents. Through a combination of engagement, early intervention and enforcement, officers and partner agencies continue to work to reduce antisocial behaviour and improve the quality of life for local residents.

    Drug and alcohol use.

    Officers continue to carry out regular patrols in locations where concerns about drug and alcohol-related activity have been reported. These patrols help identify those involved in offending, provide reassurance to local residents and allow officers to take action where there are lawful grounds to do so. This may include stop and searches. A stop and search is a police power that allows officers to search a person for items such as illegal drugs, weapons or stolen property when certain legal conditions are met.

    Officers may use a Community Resolution. A Community Resolution is a way of dealing with certain offences outside of court, allowing offenders to take responsibility for their actions and make amends. Repeat offenders may also be issued with a Community Protection Warning or Community Protection Notice. A Community Protection Warning is a formal warning given when a person's behaviour is having a negative impact on the community. If the behaviour continues, a Community Protection Notice can be issued. This is a legal notice that requires the person to stop the behaviour and can lead to further enforcement action if it is not followed.

    Officers have also used powers under a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) to address behaviour affecting the local community. A PSPO is a legal measure used to address persistent antisocial behaviour in a specific area and can place restrictions on activities such as street drinking or other behaviour that negatively impacts local residents. Through a combination of patrols, engagement and enforcement, officers continue to work to reduce the impact of drug and alcohol-related issues and improve the quality of life for local residents.

    Nuisance and off-road bikes.

    Action taken:

    Officers continue to take action against the illegal and antisocial use of nuisance bikes and other vehicles that cause concern within the community.

    Targeted patrols and enforcement activity have been carried out in response to reports from residents, helping officers identify offenders, gather information and take appropriate action. Information provided by local people plays an important role in locating vehicles linked to nuisance behaviour and supporting enforcement activity. This work has resulted in a number of illegal bikes being seized and removed from use, helping to reduce disruption and improve community safety. Officers have also used powers under a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO), which is a legal measure used to address behaviour that has a negative impact on a specific area. People who breach the conditions of a PSPO can be issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice, which may result in a fine. Through ongoing patrols, enforcement activity and close work with the community, officers continue to tackle nuisance bike use and improve safety for local residents.
