About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

    Nuisance motorcycles.

    Issued 20 July 2026

    Action taken:

Your local policing team has been working with Canterbury City Council and the Business Improvement District (BID) to support enforcement and raise awareness of the Public Spaces Protection Order in the city centre.

A Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) is a legal measure used by local authorities to address activities that have a negative impact on public spaces. It can place restrictions on certain behaviours and helps tackle issues such as nuisance motorcycles and other forms of antisocial behaviour.

Officers also support council enforcement teams with parking-related issues, particularly in locations where inappropriate parking can affect road safety and access. By working together with partner organisations, we aim to improve safety, reduce nuisance and help keep the city centre welcoming for everyone.

    Actioned 30 September 2026

  • Priority:

    E-scooters/E-bikes.

    Issued 20 July 2026

    Action taken:

Officers remain vigilant for the illegal use of e-bikes while carrying out patrols in the city and take action where offences are identified.

As part of ongoing enforcement activity, an illegally used e-bike was seized during the summer. Officers continue to monitor reports, engage with riders and take appropriate action where vehicles are being used unlawfully.

We will continue to carry out patrols and work to improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists and other road users across the city.

    Actioned 30 September 2026

  • Priority:

    Road safety issues.

    Issued 20 July 2026

    Action taken:

Officers have supported local road safety initiatives near schools and other busy areas by carrying out patrols and monitoring driver behaviour.

As part of this work, officers have taken action against vehicles found to be unsafe or not meeting legal requirements. This has included issuing Traffic Offence Reports for a range of road traffic offences. A Traffic Offence Report is a formal notice issued when a driver is suspected of committing a road traffic offence and may result in further action, such as a fine, penalty points or prosecution.

Officers have also supported speed enforcement activity in locations where concerns have been raised. By combining enforcement with education, we aim to encourage safer driving and improve road safety for everyone who lives, works and travels in the area.
