E-scooters/bikes.

Action taken:

The illegal use of e-scooters and bikes continues to be a focus for local officers. When riders are found using these vehicles unlawfully, officers will stop them and take appropriate action. This may include issuing warnings, reporting offences or seizing the vehicle where powers allow. A number of e-scooters have already been seized, and enforcement activity will continue to target those who use them illegally. Alongside enforcement, officers also work to raise awareness of the law and the safety risks associated with the improper use of e-scooters and bikes, helping to keep roads, pavements and public spaces safe for everyone.

Drug dealing.

Action taken:

Targeted patrols have been carried out in areas where drug use has been reported or identified. As part of this work, neighbourhood officers have stopped and searched people suspected of possessing illegal drugs. These proactive checks have resulted in the seizure of a number of illegal substances, helping to remove drugs from the streets and reduce the harm they can cause within the community. Where offences have been identified, appropriate action has been taken against those responsible.

Nuisance vehicles.

Action taken:

Local officers continue to take action against vehicles being used in a way that causes nuisance or antisocial behaviour. Using powers available under the Medway-wide Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO), officers have issued fines to people taking part in unauthorised car meets and other behaviour that negatively affects local communities. A PSPO is a legal order that places restrictions on certain activities in a specific area to help prevent behaviour that causes nuisance or distress to others. Vehicles have also been seized where offences have been identified, and officers will continue to carry out patrols and enforcement activity to improve safety and reduce disruption for local residents.
