About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

    E-scooters and e-bikes.

    Issued 15 April 2026

    Action taken:

Officers continue to patrol areas such as Strood West to tackle the illegal use of private e‑scooters and e‑bikes.

Where offences are identified, riders are stopped, given advice or warnings, and vehicles may be seized. Action is also taken for offences such as having no insurance or not holding the correct licence.

We also work with young people and parents to explain the law and risks, helping everyone stay safe.

    Actioned 30 June 2026

  • Priority:

Antisocial behaviour - nuisance and nuisance motorcycles.

    Issued 15 April 2026

    Action taken:

Dealing with antisocial behaviour (ASB) remains a priority for local officers.

We carry out high‑visibility patrols in areas where concerns are reported and work with Medway Council, housing providers and youth services to address the causes.

Where needed, we use powers such as dispersal orders (which allow officers to direct people to leave an area), Community Protection Warnings and Notices (formal actions to stop ongoing antisocial behaviour), and Criminal Behaviour Orders (court orders that place restrictions on individuals).

We encourage residents to keep reporting issues, as this helps us target our patrols and take action where it is most needed.

    Actioned 30 June 2026

  • Priority:

    Homelessness/begging.

    Issued 15 April 2026

    Action taken:

We recognise that homelessness is a complex issue, often linked to factors such as poor mental health and substance misuse.

We work closely with outreach teams, the council and local charities to support people who are homeless. This includes help with housing, healthcare and other services.

While action may be taken where offences occur, our main aim is to keep people safe and support individuals to access the help they need. Officers regularly engage with people sleeping rough to build trust and encourage them to accept support.

    Actioned 30 June 2026
