E-scooters/bikes.

Action taken:

Officers continue to take action against the illegal use of privately owned e-scooters on public roads, pavements and open spaces. Regular patrols are carried out across the area and, where offences are identified, officers may issue warnings, seize e-scooters or take enforcement action for offences such as riding without insurance or without the correct licence. Alongside enforcement activity, officers are also working with young people, parents and the wider community to raise awareness of the law and the safety risks associated with the illegal use of e-scooters. This balanced approach helps improve road safety while encouraging people to use these vehicles responsibly and legally.

Antisocial behaviour - general.

Action taken:

Tackling antisocial behaviour remains a priority for neighbourhood policing teams. Officers carry out high-visibility patrols in areas identified through reports from local residents, including town centres, residential estates and other locations where issues have been raised. Police work closely with Medway Council, housing associations and youth services to address the causes of antisocial behaviour and support long-term solutions. Where necessary, officers may use powers such as dispersal orders, which can require people causing or likely to cause antisocial behaviour to leave an area for a set period. Community Protection Warnings and Community Protection Notices may also be used to address behaviour that is having a negative impact on the community.

A Criminal Behaviour Order can be issued by a court to place restrictions on an offender's behaviour and help prevent further incidents. Residents are encouraged to continue reporting antisocial behaviour, as this information helps police build a clearer picture of local issues and direct patrols and resources where they are needed most.

Homelessness.

Police recognise that homelessness can be linked to a range of challenges, including poor mental health, substance misuse and other vulnerabilities. Officers work closely with Medway Council, outreach services and local charities to help people access the support available to them, including accommodation, healthcare and specialist advice. While enforcement action may be taken where criminal offences occur, the main focus is on safeguarding vulnerable people and helping them access the services they need. Regular engagement with people sleeping rough helps build trust, identify support needs and encourage individuals to make use of the help available.
